Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

US Transition “Mentors” Onboarding

Over 100 people here listening to this clown telling us that we must transfer our knowledge to people taking our jobs.

Oh, and it’s also possible that the ENGINE or Manila or Buenos Aires employees aren’t even hired yet.

(Insert meme of dumpster fire floating down the street)

The list of mentors/ platforms looks like all of the platforms will be doing kt for all of their products. What exceptions are there? This sounds like an indicator of what stays and what goes offshore. Anyone got the scoop?

So future employees of CVX don't get to learn what's in your Completely Genius powerpoints and similar creations or hints and tips to to their jobs?

The future staff of Chevron Collectively wants to say:
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!

they cannot force you to do a brain dump - selectively play the game of sharing information but make the new employees ask questions - don't make it easy

Been working with the man a while, my advice is to mimic RG’s working style when doing your transition. Share only the minimum amount of information required for that person to do their task. No background or big picture. No tips and tricks. No shortcuts or lessons learned. No indication of how the work integrates with the work of others. Only share PDFs, not original PowerPoints. Look like you’re helping but not revealing the knowledge and skills that make you good at the job. Speak in circles and gibberish. This is not the time to exceed expectations.

@n3+1Cuz the market su-ks, clown. Enjoy your bullsh-t PM/PO/SM/RTE “skills” that will ensure a much more brutal situation for you than those of us with real skills. If you’re a “digital” advisor or anything to do with scrum/agile, you lose all credibility. Hope you’re able to build real skills, or starve. :)))))

I was forced out due to downsizing a year ago. Glad I am out as I was not treated like the company is doing now to a lot of good employees. It’s only going to get worse with no trained contractors and or employees doing the jobs. Good luck to all of you. There is life after Chevron.

They want me to work in my evenings to transition my knowledge. Umm how about when they have to work our customer’s hours in the US? Sorry, but they better get used to working hours that regular people in India work. It seems that Chevron is allowing Chevron India to be a bunch of soft pu$$ies who live in fantasy world.

I only submit vendor documentation. None of my notes. Chest sheets. Tips. None of it. You don’t want to pay me for my experience, then I’m not giving it to you, they think some Indian kid making 7k a year is going to be as invested in Chevrons success as I have been for 20 years. F them

For a fall guy he’s getting a lucrative setup

RG is horrible. Yells, cusses, talks down to others that are trying to assist with ENGINE. He has no knowledge of the work that is moving there and seems lost in most meetings, well all meetings.
He’s a fall guy plain and simple, can’t wait to see him go.

FS the old chief “digital” officer, who couldn’t spell digital, hired this re--rd as his director of digital strategy.

All he did when he joined Chevron was tell people how great he is. After all the Chevron leaders recognized he was a bad hire, he was cast aside to work the must win technology challenges with AS, who eventually became the head of ENGINE. So in a way, the guy lucked into this role because he’s riding AS’s coattail to run the IT portion of moving US jobs to India.

From that call, it is obvious that he has no idea what he’s talking about. People asked very basic questions about how to get simple access to systems, and he responded with something about ADO.

I’d never heard of that guy Ranjan before today but he did not impress at all. He talked alot but nothing of substance. Like the poster below said it was all about process and timeline and reporting for metrics. Telling that the EY people in the room also couldn’t answer fundamental questions asked by those on the call

They setup big tables in the lobby of HOU150 this week to collect laptops, telephones and badges for the outgoing employees. There were also security guards training in the lobby to monitor the lobby during the employee exodus. I knew this would eventually start but it was a bit unsettling to see.
With that said, I expect people to start leaving next week or perhaps May 1st for the 60 day WARN ACT notice.
We will see what is published in the Texas WARN act notice on May1st.

Don't forget to be flexible with your schedule since they may not be aligned with your working hours. Get up super early or stay up late to complete the KT. Remember - there's always time to do it right!

The takeaway is that the new people may or may not be skilled in whatever we’re supposed to train them on but what really matters is their KT tracking metrics

Made it way more complicated than it needed it to be. Should have just assigned people to transition roles between each other would have been a lot easier

Cross training requires the new employees to know what questions to ask and the new employees will not have the work experience to know what they need to do in their new jobs. The new leadership should understand what the new employees need to know do procedures can be written by the new employees not the outgoing employees.
