Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

The new list of principals and sr. principals in software is depressing

Having worked with every one of them, I'm genuinely happy I'm leaving intel in two weeks. This is a fu--ing embarrassment.

@x3 there are 5 or 6 SPEs, you can check every one of them on workers.intel.com.
It's not like we have 6 Johns this year

@nz openvino PE is a joke. VP should resign on supporting such incomptences.

@my it matters in a situation where regular promotions are halted with the "justification" that the management expects continuous performance of exceeds expectations in new grade.
Take a look at new Sr. PE in OpenVINO org and try to find any impact from that person

Does it really matter who becomes PE or Sr. PE at a company that has completely failed and can no longer compete in any technology? These promotions are completely irrelevant at Intel in my view. At the moment Fellows are being demoted to Sr. PE roles, which is an undisputable admission from Intel that promotions are not well thought before they are granted.

LMAO, Intel hasn't changed. I wouldn't be surprised there are a lot of PE & SPE promotions in Gfx org. They shipped new features that are buggy and the Quality of the gfx driver regressed A LOT.

Glad i left last year, PE+ Promotions have been a joke since the 2010's and continues to be a joke.

OP, I ran into the same as you, the Sr PE was not able to contribute technically, teammates came to me technically.

Shocked at the list. Most are just elevated grade 9s. Well at least consistent as the past.

Why are PE/SPEs always random Indians working on projects nobody in the real world uses?

if it were only in Software it would be already a very bad thing, but those in Hardware are equally pathetic.... it has been a while since the last time I saw a really strong Principal or Senior Principal, one of those that commanded respect for their technical contributions.
