Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Interview tomorrow

I have an interview tomorrow for a Market Sales Associate position. I currently work for another insurance agency that is moving agents to $45k a month premium not including life insurance. Can you tell me about the culture at Allstate? is there anyone in the current role of Market Sales Associate that can tell me about the role and their thoughts?

@mzh+1lGvnGZS The MSA program never stopped it just slowed down and it is ramping up now, it can be a good deal if you have the sales mentality and have a really good network. If a person is like that and needs a job you really have nothing to lose, but don't expect to make 100K a year at this job.

Soon the combat will be 80% AllPune & 19% vendors.

There is no 'corporate culture' in a company that is over 80% remote. Not unique to Allstate, by any means.

I love working for Allstate…..since I’m remote 24/7, I probably sleep 3-4 each workday and spend maybe 2-3 hours a day actually working

Since 2020 I wouldn't recommend Allstate to anyone. Allstate is going through "Transformative Growth " which is just corporate jargon for mass layoffs and outsourcing jobs to overseas vendors. It's like musical chairs. You don't know which department is next. If you want a stable career wouldn't recommend. It's sad because if you asked me in 2019 I'd say yes come to Allstate It's a great company but now you will face layoffs every year

Thank you all, I woke up to these and I'm grateful to all of you. I'm currently in a position like what you described with another company, I don't want to leave one mess and fall into another one. I appreciate all of your honesty and feedback. I didn't attend the phone interview.

@muy+1lGvnGZS- That's about the most on point assessment of the culture at Allcrap I have ever heard. I could not have put it better myself.

I call corporate troll/handler on this one. Why would one come to a layoff site where thousands of people have been wronged and screwed over to ask honestly about being hired into this company from the outside? I think some Allstate corporate brown noser and goon decided they wanted to have a little fun and fish a little.

I hope your interview isn't until this afternoon so you didn't waste your time. Stay far far away from this company. The shiny exterior and cute commercials that you see on TV covers a terrible cesspool of dishonesty, corruption, mistreatment, and smoke and mirrors. In the interview and job offer made if you are so unfortunate to be selected will be full of false promises, lies, and deflection. Also there is a good chance that they will eventually force you off to some foreign vendor to be their employee without a choice other than voluntary resignation.

If you want a lot of stress daily, uncertainty if your job is next in line to go, no transparency or real honesty on what's really going on, poor training because most is just with a mentor who's already stretched thin, work that will pile on you because they let go of others or they decided on their own to leave, pointless meetings that could have been sent in an email, constant surveys but they don't REALLY want your true thoughts even though they say they do they just want good responses, low morale, stepping in to help other areas because they're short staffed and higher ups are still figuring out what to do with their jobs, everything wanting to be done yesterday, cr---y insurance, and did I mention lots of stress? But on the upside they start you with a lot of PTO days compared to other companies....

My advice? Cancel the interview. You do not want to get entangled in this disaster.

Do not make the mistake of working for this company in any manner. They are in the middle of some horribly executed business plan called Transformative Growth. Since 2020 there have been many periods of layoffs and now mass outsourcing of all areas is taking place. The agency segment is likely being all but eliminated by 2025-2026 so that will greatly reduce the need for as many bodies in market sales. It is a toxic horrible environment ran by greedy compulsive liars that have turned face many times on the direction of this company where there is really no direction anymore. I would not give this sinking ship a thought and focus your career with another more worthy and stable organization.

Run as fast as you can. This place has a terrible culture and they’ve badly declined in recent years. They’re not a pay for performance company either.

Is this a "work from home" position? If so - I think we had a company wide announcement that this program was ending...or is working from home for an individual agency? Watch out for this...
