Machinist/MSO

Anyone know why the MSO craft lost the right to do the Machinist 9414 and outbound jobs?

They can’t keep them because they keep running switches because they are always on a hurry to finish the move so they can go fuel the track, move something with the forklift, clean the cabs and when they have time, change some brake shoes and add oil and water. All while trying to follow 1000 rules that can get them ki-led or hurt. I don’t blame them for not staying 30 years at $20 to $30 an hour. Modern day slavery!

  1. Cant get/keep enough mso’s
  2. Locomotive failures on line for lack of maintenance.

If they are working the Machinists 9414 or outbound jobs, your union can submit a time claim. You can also report it to the FRA if you think it’s necessary to bring back jobs or stay with your skeleton crew in the closet.

What location did they stop? They're still doing it at our shop.

Probably got enough of a deal being promised jobs for life! Still wonder what prompted that headline.

Not only the company, but your Union wanted that! They actively were reaching out to the carriers to get that work. Scabs!

I heard it got settled in some court. As an MSO, I'm glad this happened. The company wanted us to all this extra work, for no extra money.
