@n3 oh ffs, i hate fu--ing evangelical x-ians, unless their servant leadership is at the drive thru window at Chic-fil-a wishing me a blessed day along with my ketchup packets.

Having worked with Louise during her time running procurement, one thing I’d say is Louise was always more comfortable doing the work than talking about it. She spent a lot of time behind the scenes trying to fix things and not much time making sure people noticed. In hindsight, that probably worked against her. Not sure but maybe trying to get out from BL’s shadow.

Procurement didn’t exactly come with a clean slate, and she ended up wearing a lot of problems which had been around a long time and involved a lot more people than just her. She’s made a lot of changes for the better. But there is way to go!!

Was she perfect? No. But I’ve seen plenty of leaders over the years, and most would have struggled with what landed on her desk. She’s as dedicated as it gets, just a very closed person.

Just my view from my seat dealing with SVP each day.

@nj What you said lands because it captures the absurdity and the truth in one go. bp loves to talk meritocracy, but the lived experience feels much closer to a hereditary peerage system where the titles are awarded behind closed doors and the rest of us are expected to applaud politely from the gallery.

And the best part is you’ve framed it in a way that makes the whole machine suddenly make sense. All the odd decisions, the opaque promotions, the “chosen few” narrative it all clicks neatly into place when you view it through that class‑system lens.

@nj the British class system is a good explanation for BP’s culture. You can only advance if you’re one of the chosen. The “challenger program” is like landed gentry. Lol amazing! Thank you for connecting the dots for me.

Servant leadership is antithetical to a capitalist system - and especially the bri’ish class system.

@n3 In that case, I’ve never seen a servant leader at bp. The only way to get ahead here is to take credit from your underlings and push others down so you can climb higher up the ladder.

@mq it’s an evangelical Christian thing where people are expected to lead like christ - helping your followers, being a good example, eschewing praise and giving credit to others. It’s a coded thing in the US, so people can signal that they are “humble Christians”. It’s rarely actually practiced though.

What do we think about LJP’s successor AP?

Let’s just remind ourselves. She was BLs EA. Then went to something cushy under GB in AGT. Then in reinvent she was put in charge of growing the hydrogen business. There is no hydrogen business and bp had zero right to even be in that market. Then on the back of that total failure into c-suite as CPO to backfill……. Guess who!!! So absolutely zero delivery

@fr can we name a single achievement. Except for just getting new roles then doing nothing. Also EA for BL. That should be auto dismissal

Great news. Another one of the high cost, mess with the ladies type that has zero actual use. Even better that this cuts off Niloy’s influence.

WL was an easy choice to jettison sort of like the male version of GiuliaC. The company has to eliminate these posts asap. Notice how the protected class know The Who and the When…LJP has played some serious Frogger transitioning into and out of rolls like a champion

@a4 what number rating counts as meets expectations?

If we boiled down the P&L for each VP, it becomes quite simple on which VPs/ SVPs/EVPs and their teams need to be let go. Looking at WL’s org chart, it looks like quite a bit of layoffs on the way, I would say 40-50%. Hang in there team, but this would be a good couple of months to pursue other job opportunities if you are a met expectations or lower.
