Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Advice/Intel from anyone who has been laid off

Hi, I have been feeling super nervous about some of the things I have been hearing around re-orgs within the company and am fairly certain my position will be eliminated.

For those of you who have recently been laid off by CVS for that matter, hoping you can share some wisdom..

How did the process go?
Did you get your bonus from the previous year (if you are eliminated before it is paid out)?
Were you given adequate resources to find another role internally?
Anything specific I should ask the HR person if I do get notified?

Any intel would help. I can see the writing on the wall and trying to get myself as prepared as possible. Thanks in advance!

You might already have this on your to-do list, but just in case you haven’t already done so, see if there are any courses you might want to add to your education list on the learning center portal. This is a great resource to keep learning and be ready for a job switch anytime.
That said:
I found the process impersonal and overwhelming, probably because I was in a state of shock.
I did get bonus earned from prior year.
There was robotic assistance from drone-like hired advising staff. I didn’t post internally because I wanted to move on and had no faith or trust in CVS.
Ask for any statements made to be in writing. Not because of distrust but again, when one is stunned by change it’s challenging to remember details.
Best of luck to you. Three years on and I am living the dream ( for once, not said sarcastically).

You're welcome. I have mouths to feed all on my own.

I would caution anyone to think that your network would save you btw.
Health insurance and pharmacy are very small networks, all dealing with the same issues ( Nepotism, H1B, shrinking customer base, Federal and State cutbacks in funding) which this forum knows already.

@hs OP here. I appreciate your input but did you think for a second that alongside making this post, I may have already began taking steps to workshop my resume, researching other potential opportunities, etc? Assuming otherwise is one he-l of a jump.

To each their own but in my humble opinion, learning from others experience is a great way for me to be prepared for what may be in my future, especially if in parallel I am taking the right steps to put myself in position to land on my feet. The two are not mutually exclusive.

Nonetheless, I appreciate the advice. Best of luck to all during these scary times!

Management should be laid off specially director and senior managers. They hired their spouses with fake interviews and zero technical knowledge.
I am pretty sure one day they will suffer on their wrong doings

Listen, you are thinking about this the wrong way. Yes layoffs happen. Yes it is scary. Yes it is possible, and could affect you. But you are actively exerting energy into that thought, that reality.

Instead of thinking about the possibility of that, why not place your energy in making sure your resume is updated, your professional pages (like linked in, or if you have a personal website highlighting your skills, etc). That way instead of worrying about layoffs at night, you might be able to find peace in knowing you are prepared for the worse case...if it does happen...

Yes to bonus.
No to help within the company to get rehired.
A few people tried, but there were no hand outs.
I had a harden period. Severance started after that.
I was lucky to find something else within 5 months, but it took alot of work, resume building, certifications, interviewing help. 500 applications made. 10 interviews with 5 making second rounds.
