@2dx I have had a really bad day and this actually made me chuckle. So, thank you

I actually make my coffee badging a fun game. Couple hours before I go in, I eat several bowls of Kashi GoLean Crunch with soy milk and a bunch of dried apricots.
If the timing is perfect, my working together neighborhood is blessed with hours of silent but deadly cheezers.
party on
@jd Another C-Suite slumming it with the commoners I see. I say old man, please pass me the scotch, mine seems to be empty, huzzah!
@ap Troll harder sad boy.
Badgers? We don't need no stinkin' badgers!
@vq Cheese & rice... How many FTE babysitters are on the payroll?? F this place.
Even coffee badging at Hopkins exposes you to bedbugs.
@m4 this has nothing to do with privacy. You are an employee and you’re using a company issued computer. They can tell exactly where you are logging in from, there is no escaping it. It’s tracked and could be tracked further if people keep violating the policies. I personally cannot stand going in the office. Smells like disgusting food littered with folks who forgot what hygiene actually means. If you badge in and leave the hall monitor, will catch you on the flipside..
Interesting name for it… Coffee Badgers, but I see it every day when I’m in the office, not only too they know when you login and where from but each office is doing a headcount to see who reserve space and then later to see who is still there. If you just badge in and leave shame on you, you have to su-k it up like everybody else and it’s not going on unnoticed.. don’t sc--w it up for everybody else, do your time or else they’re going to make us come in for five days a week.
@kx the FAQ does not say 8 hours a day.
It specifically states that they're to be flexible, and 8 hours a day for people with kids just isn't happening. School pickups and dropoffs, kids get sick and need to be home early, etc etc etc. The flexibility has to be generic across the board because if not they open up a can of worms.
They could remove this flexibility, sure. But considering our CEO is a woman, and removing these flexible arrangements directly impacts families, that's not a good look for her. Not that she cares, but like, let's use our brains when it comes to this "it's 8 hours a day in the office" because that's just not the reality of the situation for many reasons.
I could give two sh--s less what people do with their time, or how long they're in the office. If I need someone I'm emailing or sending a teams message. An a-s in a desk doesn't impact my ability to do my job.
@da, the rule is not to badge 3x a week. It’s to badge 11x per month. For variances like if you spent a week on vacation or at an offsite, you can just comment to your manager if ever asked.
This is the metric published for managers who can see the results monthly via Workday.
@m4 employee privacy lol. There is no such thing as privacy when it comes to using employer issued equipment.
@mc YOU don’t get to make that decision though. It has been made for you and you aren’t complying. Don’t expect to keep your job. Another poster has told you what’s happening. You aren’t flying under anyone’s radar. It’s a matter of time. A badge swipe means nothing if your IP shows where you actually are.
@jd my teams work their as--s off at home and did GREAT during covid. You are a bootlicker. If the job can be done at home or away from the office, we get it done.
@ma I think it’s the people who badge but don’t connect to the bank network and don’t stay in the office for a certain length of time. I do know people who swipe and go home and others who have colleagues swipe their badge for them. It’s very sneaky if this is what they are doing. At least inform everybody.
@kx so your saying the non badgers will get warnings but the people coming in 8 hours wont? Make it make sense.
@kx Doesn’t this violate employee privacy? Also, isn’t the in office policy tracked by badge swipes? Do you have proof of this?
Everyone so divided I need to share . No specifics b/c i don’t know it all. Those involved small grp operating under strict confidentiality under a project name. @jd is not off base. Badge swipes and IP being reviewed daily & graphed. Enterprise & org msgs are strategic w/ tracking of attendance & clicks. Letters went to those not badging. They are part of a growing list for action. IP list people will be caught off guard. Annual ethics certification being used to lock things in. Don’t comply, you’re out w/ no second chance. Easy way to cut with no severance.
@kf mmmmmmm sis it’s not your job to police people. Do you NIMBY
@ke mmmmm no. I'm not going to let anonymity and and venting be an excuse for lashing out at other people. It's just overall not ok.
@k6 I don’t think who he/she is a person is relevant to the post. Some of things he/she said have merit. This website and the USB forum is a cesspool of people nonstop lashing out at other posters, senior leadership, and the organization as a whole. Your suggestions at the end were great. We all could use some coping mechanisms. But let’s not ignore what this website is and the fact that people use it to vent.
@jd I'm not really sure who hurt you, but this isn't an appropriate response in any capacity. It's clear that you're angry, which is fine. But lashing out at people like this is telling as to who you are as a person.
May I recommend leaving early to work from home one day to give yourself a break? Maybe take a walk outside? Or...talk to someone about your feelings in a healthy way? People in this forum aren't the source of your problems. You're mad at the wrong people.
@jd No need to be so rude and hostile. You are entitled to your opinion, but so are others who have an opinion that differs from yours.
Everyone who is expected to be in 8 hours a day, 3 days a week and isn’t, is lazy and entitled. If you don’t want to follow direction, and it’s been discussed a million times, find a remote job and leave already. Nobody wants your toxicity, it’s bad enough here. You think your actions don’t affect others?! We do more to cover your lazy as& and reigns will continue to be tightened because you people never learned how to follow directions. Get over yourself, you aren’t special and you aren’t worthy of special consideration. I hope your as&es are the first to get kicked to the curb and with no severance at that!
@ap That's a good story Grandpa.
@ew idk if I would hinge bets on this. They're looking to save money wherever possible and if they can sever an expensive person for nothing, even if they're a high performer, I'm pretty confident they will. They'll (attempt to) hire in at a decreased pay grade and pat themselves on the back for a job well done.
There are open spots all over the company in areas that have seen layoffs they're having trouble filling. It's pretty telling about the state of the bank as a whole. Big yikes.
If they'd walk back their in-office bullsh-t and hire remote again they'd literally have pick of the talent and people would take pay cuts to stay home. They're missing some huge opportunities because they're stubborn.
@ew but they have gotten rid of high performers.
The ones complaining and threatening to tell are the one who do not have the flexibility in their roles.
The bank is not going to get rid of their high producers if they are not in a cubicle 24 hours per week. As long as they keep their production up no one will care as long as they show their face 3 days per week.
Keep hoping to make yourself feel better about your situation but it’s not going to happen.
@eg 8 hours a day has nothing to do with the incentives. It's simply having people in the offices that gives them the tax breaks.
People could show up for an hour or 10 and as long as that employer shows they've got mandated in-office they get the incentives.
This place is so broken that they'll take whatever desperate cash they can get.
Obvious troll post. Probably took them all 8 of their hours in the office to write this post though 😂
Sometimes I don't even get coffee!
And thus again…
1) You want someone in the office for 8 hours?
OR
2) you want someone who does their job and accomplishes things faster?
It’s a trade off.
Performative or goal oriented???
8 hours in office is for city tax incentives… if you are let go we are still all just a number.
Companies will find a way to give a lower severance etc if they want to.
They do not care about you either way if they need to cut costs.
@e3 Coming in with some logic (you do you boo I don't care) here, but if you're let go for not meeting whatever standards are set you're...not going to get severance. Just something to chew on.
Coffee badge, work 8 hours 5 days a week, idgaf. Just at least keep your own bottom line in mind at least.
As a fellow coffee badger go mind your own business! I am the only person on my team in the Hub. So, what is the difference if I sit in a team's meeting at home or in the office? Plus when I do go into the office for my two hours, the first hour I just talk to people and get no work done anyways. Such a waste of time, and yes I was a remote worker who was remote before covid who had to return to the office for no reason whatsoever. I will continue to coffee badge until I get my sweet sweet severance package.
Sounds like you might need more work to do if you have time to worry about what other people are doing.
People will listen to “senior” leaders when:
1) they do the same… yet those senior leaders sit in their houses on the ocean barking orders
2) prioritize people over tax incentives and very clear churn agenda
3) give good reasons to be in an office… spending my time on zoom at the office or at home is the same
So yeah… you can try to police bad policies as you want. No one cares.
There are always a few who ruin it for most. If you want to spend 8-12 hours in the office (gossiping most of the time anyway) - knock yourself out!
@da Senior leaders have communicated the expectation of 8 hours multiple times. what will your excuse be when the faq sheet is updated?
