Talks on a previous thread of the MBA role absorbing OOM duties creating the new Operation Facility Manager role. Can anyone verify this? Another question is what happens in store with an MBA and SMM only? Do MBAs just take the ops portion from the SMM? Would the duties just be the combination of the two roles or are any other shift of responsibilities off of this role onto another?

Is there any update on this? There was a lot of talk in early February but that has seemingly faded away. Is this still going to happen?

I'm a MBA and I haven't heard any of this. We lost our OOM role over a year ago- it wasn't filled when the guy left at Thanksgiving. The SMM took over all Support (Receiving and Fulfillment) and I got back AYS as a responsibility. We have 2 CXM positions, one has all speciality (Jewelry, Big Ticket, Backstage, Beauty) and the other has all the non speciality areas. We haven't been told of any changes but knowing this company, it could happen.

@OP Forgive my ignorance, but what is SMM? I know what MBA and OOM are but not SMM.

@ax if they creat an all new position with a title there would be a pay increase. My title has changed many time and I got a raise each time. Even when our SMM took on OOM he got a pay increase. I think it just depends on if your STM wants to impact their budget. Mine is always putting his team first which is nice.
My store is located on the East Coast. The MBA and OOM position was combined in our store. The current OOM took over the MBA responsibilities. Essentially, the person is doing both jobs. It’s up to the STM to decide which roles will be combined based on your budget for your particular location. We lost our MBA role, but gained another CXM position. So far, our MBA/OOM has complained that it’s a lot more workload. Also, you will not receive a pay increase for the added responsibilities (which su-ks).
I cannot verify, I have not been told anything yet by my store manager, I am waiting till corporate passes us some real information, I know at Bloomingdale’s they combined what was their OOM and MBA roles into a Senior Manager Operations job they did this last year at Bloomingdale’s , which is what is sounding similar to what they might be doing this year on the Macys side, I am my stores MBA but we don’t have an OOM so not sure what that difference would do for us
