Does anyone know what happens once this happens? I'm sure they are smaller than us.

@m0 I’d like to see local manger changes having gone from one that knew we knew how to do our jobs to a micro-manager that is a micro-manager clone of their director.
@ay nothing will happen until the ILEC is gone from Uniti. Zayo wanted Windstream pretty bad, but the absolutely did not want any of the bargaining headaches

KDL is aerial, self-supporting strand that the squirrels absolutely love.
There is alot of problems within the old GTE fiber hung in the 1980's. We have had alot of attenuation in the upper wave lengths, some times so bad we have to put unmanaged media converters in the middle just to restore circuits.
Don’t forget that uniti/WS bought the cr-p that Paetec/ovation/mccleod/whatever else they could change their name to in order to keep operating their cr-ppy network. Worst….fiber…ever. Hung mostly non-armored garbage which the squirrels love! Also sold customers ring protection but had all kinds of laterals with all 4 fibers in the same sheath! Now that’s a tu-d of a network.
The OSP fibers owned between the two entities (UNIT and WS) are garbage and only getting worse - Have these been replaced? The best looking fibers (via OTDR and Fiber Char testing) used for transport systems were obtained from other vendors. Has this changed? Are they still doing the lease purchase scam with the equipment vendors?
I have to wonder if any potential buyers know what garbage they are pursuing -
Seems like a lot of redundancy in the management department. Easily could cut 1/2 the management. Heck , AI can approve our timesheets now.
People can say what they want but something is definitely coming. I too hope they merge any all manager out the door because none of them do anything. I have been through so much he-l with this company that I’ve decided it’s time to go. I tried to hold on but the recent daily changes in my department have been more than I can deal with. This place is a dumpster fire and needs to just hang it up! I feel so sorry for some but the rest need some just desserts imo.
I sure hope our local managers don’t get merged out the door! What is it they actually do again?
A friend that works at Zayo called me looking for assistance on an issue and he said that Zayo is acting like a buyout was basically a done deal when the Uniti merger is complete.
Don’t forget the widespread rumors in the press a few years ago about companies like Zayo and others looking at buying WIN and Uniti. It only fell thru because you were not one unit. That was in 2021-2023. This sets the companies up for that…. Layoffs of some sort usually come with mergers. It’s a way to make the books look better by getting rid of redundant expense being a combined company, especially in the executive ranks.
My bet is there's another merger waiting in the wings.
Windstream without Uniti is worth nothing. Uniti owns all the infrastructure, but can't maintain it. Putting back together what Tony Thomas split apart for tax purposes is the only way.
Makes me wonder about the rumored acquisitions that failed under Tony's leadership, and if any of those are back on the table.
Oh it’s definitely going to be sold. Take it to the bank. I’m sure the new company is already in place. Why else would you merge these two pigs together.
Much smaller. Fewer than 1K employees to WIN's 9K. But they will have controlling interest and install most of of their executive team. Naturally they will want to change enough to flex their muscles and put their stamp on things. The big unknown is whether they are prepping the new combined company to operate normally or to be sold again to some larger player.
