Thread regarding ViaSat Inc. layoffs

Don't believe anything you read here - it's complete BS

It's just a bunch of disgruntled trolls who got laid off a long time ago and have no idea what's going on in the company now. They are posting nonsense and fiction.

I work with multiple teams in the company, and morale is pretty high. Everyone is hard working and dedicated to their jobs. I check Slack at midnight before bed, and so many people still have a green dot next to their name. I get late night emails from Git from people submitting code late. People are handling on call duties on the weekend. Some are even doing it while on vacation, while on maternity and paternity leave, and I've even seen it from a few people who were supposed to be retired.

I don't know anyone who is worried about layoffs. No one is leaving, and, in fact, the company has started hiring again. Of course that doesn't mean there won't be some low performers or people in business units that are no longer a priority let go here and there. But at many recent all hands, not just with Guru and Mark, but with other leaders too, there is a strong sense of optimism and a feeling that the company is moving in the right direction. It's not fake, it is a sentiment shared amongst many people I've talked with.

Look at the company's press releases. New deals and contracts are being announced on a regular basis. There are several other reasons, that cannot be named, to be positive about the future of this company. All I can say is that I have maxxed out my ESPP and cannot believe my good fortune to be acquiring shares at ridiculously low prices.

OP - well done on the ESPP investment given the stock keeps hitting new 52 week lows this week. As the saying goes, a fool and his money are easily parted. As regards BS, I think that is the majority of your own post to be honest

You must hate your money then. Viasat is where money goes to die.

You forgot to add positive slack messages from former employees!

And, don't forget to buy more VSAT shares with any discretionary income you may have. Heck, borrow money to buy more shares!

@csg+1uW1JipF And that is ok as IS has been a drag on VS. Needs to be hollowed out and anything good there migrated over to the VS ways. It’s called “acquisition”

The Viasat way… a few people working stupid hours to cover “running lean”.

To each their own, some of the warnings were true and I wouldn't take this last warning lightly.

They forgot to turn their mouse wigglers off.

To colleague @OP+1uW1JipF.
Lucky you working in a high performing team with job satisfaction.
Many of us have an opposite experience. My own legacy ISaT team has had 3 levels of management completely removed by redundancy in past 3 months and nobody replaced. More people told to go this week not low performers but (expensive?) managers who perform well. Customer service is down, staff satisfaction all time low and L2 & L3 could not care less and ask for more head cuts. I guess everybody experience is valid.

I wouldn't go quite as far as the OP, but I'm definitely on a productive team that's working on cutting edge technology, business is good, and more work is constantly coming in. We're not working overtime either. Things certainly aren't as bad as the negative posters here say.

People who can’t afford to get laid off are working overtime to stay off the spread sheet list. It’s not like working at Nvidia or Meta where cool innovation is happening. Viasat is an Internet utility company now.
