Thread regarding CDW layoffs

Bad news guys

Within 35-40 days there will almost certainly be a selective CDW layoff. Before the holidays, and around earnings time so cost reductions can be announced on the call to soften the likely earnings miss and shore up the remaining employee morale. The post above regarding the selection criteria is accurate. If you are underperforming, you are already on the first-cut list but it doesn't hurt to double down on your performance because you can still possibly save yourself. Those lists are fairly dynamic for the ones on the line. You also have a small window to document your case for wrongful termination and improve your bargaining power, and only if applicable. If you get a sudden meeting invite from your manager and HR business partner in the next 4 weeks it is your time to welcome yourself to a better opportunity.

Bumping this from @4dwx+1uhbAXnq for info.

A few VPs and directors have slowly vanished over the course of the year and I’ve heard they were stealth layoffs but admittedly I have no proof other than rumors. When the big ones like Eccles are let go, we’ll hear things like “they want to spend more time with family” or my favorite, the “working on special projects” and just suddenly disappear from the org.

I wish everyone luck - it’s tough out there and if I get let go, I’m planning on expanding my side business, maybe looking at contracts, and hopefully just taking some time for myself.

Yes, that’s the reason they went to unlimited PTO, but that doesn’t take effect until 4/1 and people still have a lot of hours on the books since they haven’t had time to burn them yet (I won’t burn mine until later). So I think they’d still have to pay those accrued hours out, right?

Now it makes sense why they gave everyone unlimited PTO. They no longer have to payout vacation when they cut 10% of the workforce.

Email from Chris that we’re reducing our workforce came out at 5 CST. So whoever is getting laid off today should have their calendar invite. Good luck everyone.

Temporarily losing access to Wd yesterday was probably a dry run for this?

Will it be frontline workers again with fat-cat directors & VPs keeping their jobs?

This post was spot on. I just saw the RIF email and the RIF will be happening all week.

If this is actually happening tomorrow, as others have mentioned, I expect the emails will start coming in around 5 a.m., similar to how they did during the first event in 2023.

You could cut 80% of middle management at any company and not see a big impact.

6K laid off at Cisco today. Layoffs 💯 coming in hot at the dub this month. And of course executive team and upper leadership will be safe because they are immune to this sh-t show even though they ARE THE PROBLEM.

^^^^100% @ justaguywantinghiscompanytosucceed. You aren't wrong. CDW's go to market sales structure is backwards compared to the industry and OEMs we work with. I just don't understand it, but that is the legacy CDW sales structure. I'm expecting significant changes in the sales org and how they are rewarded. JMO.

Your source? Im imagining that with how lean this organization already is in most areas, we can't afford to loose headcount. I don't see any cuts until mid Jan before Q4 earning. CDW cutting costs involves adjusting sales comp. the days of inside account managers making 300K+ for making a few calls a day and putting in orders need to be behind us. multiply that across a massive salesforce and we find the sustainable way forward. Maybe i'm wrong.
FYI, 'better opportunities' are few and far between right now. most folks going through layoffs are looking at 6+ months of job searching right now. If you're concerned, make sure you've adjusted your savings plan.
