Heard that the plan is to reduce the total workforce by 20%

Going forward, they will not beable to hide. Everything they do will be dragged out into the light. That includes their M&A activities. They have woken the sleeping giant...Its on!

They never announce, they always try to keep it secret (this time in vain; this is the first time I've ever seen actual people leaders posting here), and they never reassure because there are RIFs virtually monthly (they're just usually targeted within one or two areas of business and are usually small-ish); anyone safe today may not be safe next month, the month after, or six months from now when they decide to reorg yet again.

There was at least one RIF in June that never even got legs here, but I personally know and worked with two of the several people impacted. There was a RIF last November that eliminated ten or so people in a single 20-person department that was never mentioned here and probably only 100 people in the org were even aware of it.

And, whatever the list was this go-round already includes names for the next one. Hence, they never reassure.

I do agree it su-ks.

While I want a job in general, if I get cut in the October round I probably won’t be too disappointed. I will have roughly 5+ months of severance and will get the Holidays off without having to worry about this place at all.

You can assume the number in each round, whatever that is, is just below what they'd have to report.

I hope I get cut this week, I want to head to Germany for a few weeks and I do not have any PTO left.

Sorry Rifs on Fridays are RARE unless the person was missed that Thursday. I’ve been here 20 years and never heard anyone being riffed on a Friday except for 1 person who was on PTO that Thursday.

@lkm+1oMKlNqg The 1800 was Thursday only I believe. Not sure how many were added Friday, but if we are to believe the 3-5% number for the first round then It was at least 1800 Friday as well. Again, these aren’t “official” numbers since nothing has actually been announced. We have to rely on what is reported here.

How does anyone know how many were impacted this round to state on this site? One person says 5k impacted and on another thread it says 1,800. Please unless you know for certain you are guessing.

Always hits the Thursday’s before a pay period ends.

Thank you all for posting and sorry for those who got let go, it su-ks. I hope folks post again next round, they try hard to keep this stuff secret, my immediate supervisor and director above her had no idea this was happening. Kind of su-ks they don't at least make announcement or reassure anyone still here.

Will be around 10k total. 5k this round and another 5k in a month. Around when those from 1st wave leave (~10/20)

Likely no more for this month. I would look for end October as the next RIF dates. Not sure about another wave after that but I wouldn’t be surprised if the is another one just before Thanksgiving to end the years RIFs. It will almost always happen on the Thursday and Friday if a non pay week. The first wave was roughly 3-5% of the workforce mostly focused on GBD business among others. I hear next wave could be more geared towards the commercial side of business.
