Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Coming cuts?

There’s a lot of pencil sharpening happening recently. Work is being shifted. Giant lists of efforts being prioritized so most can be placed on hold (under the exercise that we are doing too much work already).

It may be true that we’re doing too much work - but you know there are people/teams tied to that work. If the work goes, so do the people.

Well so today it happened… Centene made another workforce reduction company wide. At my health plan in PA, 15 roles were eliminated including several leadership roles including Director, Manager and Supervisor levels. So it starts again. The Centene purge every 2-3 years.

@wftf+1mzYiXan should be worried. The scoop is that Medicare is fed up with how management has been handling things ever since the purchase of WellCare in Tampa. All signs point to the fact that they use people on the cheap in the Philippines. The word is that after news broke about Michael’s passing, and the poor handoff to Sue, there is no recovering back the loss they have felt the last year and a half. You can count your bottom dollar, last penny in the jar, that more cuts are coming and it will be painfully obvious after this quarter.

The crazy thing is that everyone knows it, they just don't do anything about it. It’s like a sinking ship and the only one trying to get the water out with a bucket are the rats and mice. I used to love coming into work and know that I was making a difference and felt achievements when they happened.

Now, me and my whole department count down to Friday. That, nowadays, is the only thing keeping us sane and capable of functioning. Yes, a 180 and for the worse. Think 1990 San Francisco vs 2023 San Francisco. We have gone too far back in everything with this place and there is no sign of hope. We had hoped that after the last round of layoffs, we would be safe, but here we go again. I imagined this day coming again, had a gut feeling.

There was no way the loss of the amount of business from Medicare, they could keep afloat. So here we are, at the chopping block waiting our turn. Maybe this time, me and my family will be lucky, AGAIN, and miss the guillotine.

Second, the amount of movement going on. A lot of moving parts are falling off as they bring all this work over to people that have no business touching it. Yeah, word from the bird is that they have people working cases that they shouldn’t be touching. Some major players are involved. Keep thinking that soon, the folks out there in Sunrise will be served with some justice and get caught. A lot of sleezebags in management out there. Very very sketchy people, who seem to think that calling people on the side and telling them to do things is the way to get business done but it’s not. This crazy notion that these fat, grotesque nurses that wouldn’t even quality to babysit a pile of po-p in a yard filled with roaches. Very nasty women, if you can even call them that. Nasty old raccoons.

Third, underground talks is that a lot of the issues are stemming from orders coming from the “DEI” department and keeping unqualified management. It is banana po----g pop spiked by Bill Cosby, that the management, who are defined by the DEI requirements are mostly the nurse management and above and can’t keep their accents at bay. Yeah, I know about coconuts, we don’t need it at work and you drive us battier than heckfire on a stick when you tell us over and over again that a case was done wrong. We get it Debbie Downerosouras, no need to breathe that ratchet breathe through the email system.

There is more, but not now….

Any idea or news where cuts may be made? I feel like we are having to basically justify ourselves right now in Medicare and track EVERYTHING we do. And if cuts came, when would that be?

What departments are you in? Have you considered transferring to another department? That is a lot of years to throw away.

@gyul+1mzYiXan Me too. Over 10 years which had ups and downs like any job would. But this past year has been nothing like I have ever experienced. There are great people in leadership but God help you if you’re under one of the bad ones. It’s a nightmare and I can’t take it anymore.

I have many years under my belt and just started applying externally to get away from bad leadership. I hope at least that by me leaving I save someone somewhere from being cut.

“You aren't speaking for the rest of IT either: "those being the most qualified in positions of true leadership". Ha!”

I’m not in IT but I am new to the thread. I can speak for at least one manager in IT I know who is more than qualified to be in his role. He’s a great leader that I have a lot of respect for. Just wish he could be my manager. Ha!

Go woke, go broke. This company is so DEI concerned that they are hiring people that shouldn’t be allowed to drive or breed.

None of the VP’s, executives or managers know how to the job they are handsomely paid to “do” however when pressed on things, they snap at you and act like you questioned the Jan 6 narrative.

I hope this company gets Bud Light’d.

It's a holding pattern until CMS decides how bad they pour the coals to us over our quality scores. That's what we need though, and have needed for several years...some quiet time to try to clean this mess up.
