A memo just went out to all the USAA executives to stop referring to the San Antonio office as the “Home Office” - call it the “San Antonio Office”. In addition, stop using the term “Enterprise” (use “USAA” or “Our Association” instead). What’s the meaning of this ?

The are laying the foundation that San Antonio will no longer be the home office. No more enterprise is laying the foundation that we will only be insurance (possibly only a servicing only) company. Really just a brand with everything else either owned or outsourced by another company. (Tesla insurance isn’t Tesla…)
@kz usaa optics. "enterprise" sounds like a big org and they needn't "sound" so big. Lol. Especially if usaa sells bank, enterprise wouldn't need to support it anymore.

Ever since the Home Office name change, I've noticed the positive culture shift exuded by all my peers. My productivity has gone up 30%. Everyone is so happy now. See, we don't need a flag officer/general as CEO. We need a no-frills type of person like Juan. I bet members see this and think "wow, USAA is in the right hands now...I'm going to get new products and bring my Victory and Schwab accounts back over when they relaunch our pseudo-FASG/Investments back in house". I heard about this a while back and I've racked my brain trying to figure out what it could mean or if there's some underlying reason for it. Normally with company-wide changes there is at least some ostensible reason why those changes are made, but this one just doesn't make much sense.
The only semi-logical thing I can think of regarding "Home Office" is that there's a plan to relocate the home office or headquarters to another location with more favorable tax or regulatory conditions, similar to how Tesla (and others I'm sure) relocated its headquarters from California to Texas.
It could also be as simple as making things more "inclusive" by not alienating regional offices or something, but that would be an incredibly silly thing to do in my estimation. All large companies have a headquarters, so going out of your way to change the terminology for that reason seems like a complete and total waste of time.
Changing the terminology from Enterprise to USAA/Association though, I can't think of any logical or compelling reason for that. A quick Google search says the definition of an enterprise is:

I added the bold. This is a giant logical stretch, but unless there really are plans to sell off the bank due to regulatory issues and make USAA an insurance company only (thus making our "products and services" offerings less diverse), moving away from saying enterprise just makes no sense whatsoever.

I heard ERC is changing ERM to USAA Risk Management.
Tinfoil hat answer: Big changes are coming, and we're laying the groundwork for it by changing names.
Most likely answer: A small gesture to try and make it seem like we're not playing favorites with any one particular office.
Who knows - only time will tell.
Home Office sounds like my office at home, so I am glad they are changing that. I prefer for them to call it SATHQ or Headquarters instead.
Apparently, USAA leadership is prioritizing the words we use to refer to parts of the organization instead of giving us the tools and resources (read, strong leaders within the Bank) to address the OCC consent order, once and for all.
I thought the bank headquarters is now located Pheonix AZ.
