Is the DEG group (In CNIO/Network Operations under SVP-Corey Anthony) moving to AFO (Under SVP-Chris Altomari) soon??? Overheard some chatter about that being a reality come 2/1/2026.

Well, it’s 2/2 and DEG hasn’t moved to AFO. Answers that.
@ky DEG techs in most areas mainly work older Sonet/Copper slcs . Once move takes place DEG & BFS dt’s will begin to overlap work like it was done 20 years ago. The plan is to align all ost’s in the same department for the future consolidation of outside titles and work.
DEG are the techs that install 100 gbs circuits and equipment to customers. how are they not part of fiber technologies?
All of you are saying stuff, but neglecting to answer the op’s question.
Yes, DEG job duties align with AFO operations. Most of their daily work responsibilities are copper slc multiples. They should have never been moved to begin with. None of their duties align with the modern fiber co business model. They rarely even work with a co tech on anything.
DEG aligns better with AFO and will enhance their survival in the long run. CNIO has already been right-sized through layoffs, attrition and severance offers. With transport and network changing, moving to fiber, more software based and AI, all positions are and have been reduced to meet the needs of the business.
Now if they would just to the same to the 4 levels of VP and rest of the C suite.
Yes , moving toward a single title for outside techs. Contractors will be doing all fiber repair before next contract.
Yes
AFO stands for AT&T Failed Operations , where other units go to die. They are all set up for failure there
If the quality of "work" by the majority of the remaining DEG techs are any indication, it's past due.
AFO stands for AT&T Failed Operations , where other units go to die. They are all set up for failure there , where they apply unobtainable metrics that then give them cause to reduce headcount. If true , DEG’s doom will only be accelerated.
