Hello
Are severance packages paid in one lump sum or bi weekly like a pay check?

@pp This is so ridiculous considering a large amount of us don’t get unlimited PTO.
@pm it depends on what state you’re in. when they switched to unlimited pto a few years ago most people lost what they’d accrued. in california and a few other states they were required by law to leave the existing accrued hours vested. those will be paid out upon separation.
@pm You lose it. Not paid out.
@m6 do you know what happens to our unused PTO? Do we lose it? Is it paid out?
Same as a paycheck.
@kw no, it is not in addition to WARN. I hear you, it’s not fair that they eat up your years served with WARN vs stacking, but that’s what they do. It’s been discussed here dozens of times and I’m surprised it’s still asked but all that shows is that I’ve been through too many of these and spend too much time on this board. Hopefully you won’t be impacted this week but if you are, take it up with HR but it won’t make a difference.
is this in addition to WARN notice? in NY that requires minimum 90 days so will the severance on top of that? otherwise it's not a severance - it's just a WARN notice if your your seniority is 6 years.
under the severance plan that was distributed with the september opt-in program, it's paid in installments on the regular payroll schedule
Both of the below responses are wrong. 🙄 It’s paid in installments. Please refer to the severance plan doc.
@a5 Not true. It depends on your level and salary. Lower level people will get a lump sum payment. Higher level people will get their regular salary as a bi-weekly payment until their severance ends.
One lump sum so they can tax you higher.
