Or in other words, what is your number? How much is enough for you to go to your boss and tell FU you won't see me in the office tomorrow.
My number if 5M, what is yours?

boomer retirement slop comments are such a low form of discourse
well my 20 MM and reverse roth second wifes vacation tacoma kids colleged the vacation home!!!
shut up. nobody cares.
“two weddings in the next 5 years at 250k each”
That’s a joke, no one in their right mind would spend $250K on a wedding. You could take that money and place it into an investment for your kids that would return at least 10% a year therefore doubling the money in 7 years. Then in another 7 years the child would would one million dollars.
By spending the money on a wedding, you only showing off your wealth to your friends and family. You have very shallow values!
@ks
You hit the nail on the head.
That is why Chevron is moving all the jobs to low cost geographies.
The people in the USA are way overpaid.
Chevron will lay you all off before you ever to get to your numbers. The younger generation needs to move all you all old codgers out so they can get their turn su-king at the trough. I was fortunate to get a package last year and moved all my money into AI stocks. The next round of layoffs will be heading into stagnant or declining market. Best of luck su-kers.
I need at least $10mln.
My financial advisor is EF Hutton. And they say…
IMHO, the biggest risk in retirement is inflation. The government has a budget deficit of 2 trillion per year. To deal with the horrendous debt situation it must eventually either go bankrupt or monetize the debt. It is not going bankrupt, so it must print money like there is no tomorrow. If your retirement nest egg is primarily paper dollars, it will be inflated away over time. Don't think that if you have saved enough money to retire now, that it will last you 30 years, unless you have a robust investment plan.
Wow! You guys all want to be in the too 1% of retirees!
Who knew CVX was minting so many multi millionaires! The Company must be just shoveling money at people every morning when they come through the doors.
Depends if the kids are still on payroll or not, mortgage payment, projected health care costs, along with overall quality of life. For Houston, a family of 4 with income of 300k per year is considered affluent. So 7million would be a very good target to live very comfortably. For most people 4million would be more than enough if they are empty nester.
20 MM is a solid number IMO.
You're not getting that at Chevron alone.
I've got 4 other income streams.
Lot of you guys have put everything in the Chevron basket and have 1 income.
That's insanity.
OMG but I need to WFH or I'm gonna lose my mind, I can't afford this, I can't afford that, I have no career growth, no promotions Waaah Waaah Waaaaah!!!!!
My the Irony is so deep you need hip boots lol.
I am 52 and if I include lump sum and severance should have about 5.5. That’s about 240k per year with the 4% rule well below my base pay, bonus and stock that I make every year. To maintain the a lower standard of living, tuition for kids for another 8-9 years, health care, property taxes, taking care of extended family, two weddings in the next 5 years at 250k each, vehicles, insurance, taxes on retirement income and have at least 250 k in disposable actual income, I need at least 350k in actual income in a down market . Projected over 20-30 years accounting for inflation long term care, hospice care, assisted living etc. Iwhich will get very expensive over that time period, so it could be quite tricky. So Social security, Medicare would help but only after 64.5 years, so my projection is 8 MM with the 4% rule factoring in all of this. I need 3 MM in the next 5 years or in a shorter timeframe if I am let go sooner than later.
100 bitcoin
4 million at least in Houston
20 bucks. Can I borrow a tenner?
500 - MW
4.5MM
2-2.5m. I was at low paying service companies until 2022 so I don't have high cost needs for living. Thankfully I'm only 4-6 years away from the amount I need.
Yet CVX employees all seem underpaid miserable slaves going by the tone of most of these posts, lol. One would think you guys are all slaving away for minimum wage lmao!
Enough to pay the bills each month (4K), take a nice trip twice a year (10K), so 70K a year and I have maybe 35 years left in life...with inflation, 3MM. If SSA holds up, thats my monthly so...if i had 500K (I do) its all I need.

$20 million is my minimum to be comfortable given all the uncertainties in the world today. But I tell my boss of regularly anyhow, haha.
