Thread regarding USAA layoffs

Why did Michael Moran not get fired ?

How did Moran not get fired? He is so much worse than those Juan let go. All he knows is to talk and pretend that he runs the bank, truth being his Uncle Brad is running it for him. He does not even know the industry or products or innovation or tech to grow the business, so HOW, is here he here? Sometimes stupidity and Mo--ns also get good times, it seems. He will keep cutting more people as he knows nothing more

Well the bank is turning a profit for the first time in four or five years - so guess he is doing something right

He is an id--t and bad culture creator. Bank will die under him in next 2 years because he knows nothing. He couldn’t even manage finances when he was CFO. The tailwind he got due to regulations under Trump backing off was his luck. How long that story will run? Bet that he will be gone by this time next year and it would make total sense

@v4 is it? Getting benefit of regulatory pressure going off. Things planned in budget for regulation not coming through. Where is the growth? He is toxic. Talks sweet and fires people, is a double standard person.

@v4 you do know the 100% reason why the bank so far this year is profitable, right? If the bank isn’t able to offer new products to members, how does a bank turn a profit? By reducing head count aka layoffs.

No penalties on the bank , profitable and steadily improving - what else can a Bank President deliver - Michael is a great guy

If we’re making a list, then may as well add DMC and Russ to the mix. Bad apples, ineffective and toxic. Elizabeth though, just rotten! Michael’s clearly unfit and making the most of the chance he was gifted to earn his pay before he’s booted. The cost of all of this is the unimaginable damage it’s causing the Bank and USAA and of course the Association.

@kq elizabeth is crazy and arrogant. I have seen her tantrums in meeting. I am like how the fck is she a VP. I behave better, and I’m not in management!

Fire Michael. Don’t know about Product but reduce Julie. Fire Elizabeth and reduce half of her EMG, fire the majority of the rest. Reduce half of Shared Services EMG. And replace those fired with executives who actually know how to run a Bank and understand operational and compliance risk. Not USAA people who failed upward, or outsiders brought in that were second rate leaders who couldn’t hack it at the Big Banks and landed at USAA.

if the bank wants to save money, they should look at the bloated upper leadership team in mortgage banking. In some cases there are multiple where maybe one is needed, if that. The employee and manager headcount keeps shrinking, yet they have the same amount of upper “leaders”. I It would be interesting to uncover the reasons behind that. Honestly they contribute nothing unless you count regurgitating the same ideas over and over again, or trying to talk over one another in meetings so that they can “be seen”.

Because his excess hair product repels it. And his closeted lifestyle. That's two great shields to have in a corporate environment.

It’s because the government is running the bank and Juan doesn’t have the power to fire him.

@OP the problem with the bank isn’t who is running it. The problem is the bank is a sh*tty bank to begin with and should be sold or shut down.

Easy! He fires the bank president, then that would open the eyes to the rest of the bank employees that everything said during town halls and meetings about the bank doing well and we see the light at the end of the tunnel has all been nothing but bullsh*t.

Michael Moran knows nothing about running the bank, much less all the regulatory mess it’s in. Moving him to bank president was only to find ways to make the bank profitable, simplest way to do that, reduce headcount (layoffs), which since the start of the year, at least 800 employees have been laid off.

Next year, the lack of back filling positions will come back to bite the bank in the ar-e.

One reason being if Juan fires him, then that shows the bank is in more trouble than they let on. The only reason the bank is turning a profit this year is due to the layoffs that have and will occur for the duration of 2025.

We will have a new Bank President this time next year.
