Thread regarding State Street Corp. layoffs

Most of the new hires are Indians and Asians

I just received a list of new hires in my division at State Street and it appears that only 12.5% had Anglican names. Based upon the names, most of the new hires are Indians and Asians.

I am curious to see what will happen with the tighter H-1B policies.

@kj just had another layoff at state street IMS. There 17 years and created onboarding process. Age discrimination all over this one. So far every one is over 40. Can you say class action. Not standing for this

Burn them out... that's the company motto.

@b4 Yup. When I worked for another company, years ago, the CTO was Indian, and had a heavy preference to hire other Indians. He was basically racist against anyone that wasn't Indian.

People think racism only applies to white people. I've got news for them.... racism is a system that perpetuates one group against another. It's largely tribalism at the core. What do you think the caste system is?

@b4 Not to sound racist or to stereotype Asians. During my 20 years at the company.
Asian Americans and Asians outside the U.S some of the hardest working people.
Taking pride in doing their work 100% correct and on time. The same thing with
our European offices.

You are correct it seems the Indian staff motto in the U.S and outside is getting
the work done quickly is more important than making sure it is correct and can
         be used by other people.

Indian culture is based on a rigid social caste system dating back hundreds
of years. The level of respect , kindness is based on your social status.
They freely discriminate against each other based on social status.

I’m an Asian American with a non-English name, so I normally wouldn’t expect to be hired easily — in that sense, I guess I was lucky to be a non-Indian/non-Chinese hire. However, I’ve noticed that my Indian manager seems to hire almost exclusively people from his hometown and appears reluctant to hire Americans. One time, I overheard the conversations between him and another Indian VP that they struggled to find someone who doesn't need visa sponsorship but willing to come on site for 4 days a week. That's not true. A bunch of my American friends are out of work and willing to commute. I think they are making up an excuse to avoid hiring Americans.

I am treated horribly in my team. I’m often sidelined on new projects and consistently end up fixing mistakes made by those employees without receiving any credits.

I'm participating in some activities in this Reddit sub https://www.reddit.com/r/AmericanTechWorkers/s/sThYXT9JSs, such as:

  • Applying for hidden H1B only jobs that companies hide from Americans to avoid hiring a qualified American. The jobs for a while are only known if you read local newspaper but are not posted on Jobs.now.
  • Call the local representatives on the impact of discriminative hiring practices that hurt Americans.
