it's confirmed that Vz India is going to see layoffs this coming week - Probably around 3rd or 4th Dec. A bunch of us are asked to WFH this week while the others aren't. FYI - When layoffs happened in 2017, the employees were shown the door the same day. Which group of people are getting laid off in this scenario?

@OP As AI starts to take over, the world will see layoffs.
@kh 9 times out of 10 the workers overseas arent better at the job. They are just okay with being treated like slaves.
Expecting jobs not to go off shore is the opposite of globalization. This should have been thought of by the settlers in New Amsterdam back in the day, because that was their motivation to explore new shores. Can we also ask for
ChatGPT to Be shut down because it is taking away a lot of knowledge work, especially because we are lazy bi--hes and hate anyone who can do a better job than us?
@bb at least the Filipinos are nice and they try to help compared to the Indians
If anyone is being asked to work from home, that means that layoffs will be happening for that team.
Are the layoffs only on India? What about the Philippines? Any news?
Don't believe anything on this site with the 99% failure rate
@OP We shouldn't be overseas at all. It's insane that we do not employee and train American employees.
good
Yes, layoffs expected here next week in India. The numbers might be around 2K - 3K
Sorry to hear the news.
Here is a part of the bigger story unfolding...

I’m sorry this is happening to you in India. As someone who got laid off in the US, here’s what I did … Go to the office to pick up any personal belongings, go through your computer and phone in case there are any files or pictures you want to save, identify the colleagues you have a good working relationship with and jot down their contact information in case you want to reach out to them for a reference.
Do you know the number? If it’s 2000 layoffs, then that means that the number originally reported in the Wall Street Journal (15,000) was accurate and Dan was being disingenuous when he said it was 13,000.
Hopefully all of them 99% don't know a thing.
