What does it say about a company when a 17-year veteran is secretly hoping for a pink slip? Morale isn’t just low, it’s long buried. At this point, even the die-hards are eyeing the exits.

23 years here and I want my job but it's so scary and depressing.

34 weeks, not months. 2 weeks of severance per year worked. I'm not sure if it has been changed, but last I looked, I think they set a minimum layoff floor for severance, so those even with just 1 year, would get same as someone who has been 10 years.
There's nothing wrong with hoping you get laid off. If I had 17 years under my belt, I'd take 34 months of severance. It's the guys who haven't been with cigna long where it could be detrimental
What's the new low? That you in particular want to be laid off?
There's the new hires, there's the still ambitious trying to get a new title and promotion no matter the cost, and then there's the rest of us wondering how much longer we can or should bide our time.
If it was a better job market, many of us would have been gone months ago.
Right there with you.
