I got really close to accepting an offer 2 years ago … energy major, would have been a legit supervisory position (I’m a SME), but they couldn’t come close to making up the RSU hit. @mc I ranked very good once, and the rest top 5th during my 10 years and averaged the 9.5%. I’ve had years with 2.5% increases and others where I received 14% but usually it’s around 7-10%.

@ke 10% ave for 10 years is very good. Is this typical? I'm just a middle ground performer and def. Didn't get this good of raises

@jw A lot of people average 10% raises their first 10 years and then it begins to plateau (from what I’ve been told). I have averaged 9.5% a year my 10 years here. I don’t expect this trend to continue for the next decade.

I’m sorry. 10%+ raises regularly? Why would you be leaving when most of us are barely getting 2% raises?

I left XOM after 6 years to take a business leader role with another company. It was the best decision of my career. XOM is a horrible company to work for.

@b5 I’ve heard from a semi-reliable source that there’s so many applicants to Chevron from Exxon that there’s a designated drive just for storing their CVs.

@OP If you’re going to any of the Big-5 it’s the same tu-ds, different toilet. You might even end up taking a pay cut if it’s a lateral move in terms of title and function.

I personally left O&G altogether. Worked out well for me.

It’s just a job, don’t sweat it, if you like the new company and they make a decent offer then go.

You are one bad year of assessment to get kicked out of Exxon. Best to consider options and maximize your earnings.

I wouldn’t be considering the pension if only 10 years in. Hard to believe it will be around in 20 years.
