If a ~$100 per year subscription is what moves the needle, you don't know how to manage your own money.

We’ve been talking to financial advisors to get their opinions.
I also have an app as a diy financial planner that also tracks budget/ expenses and income. Gives you a better understanding of where to make adjustments in spending and in portfolio.

We lowered our Netflix subscription, canceled one of the household amazon prime memberships since we had 2, and have been eating at home more often. The last time I went through a layoff scare, I switched my phone plan from Verizon to Straight Talk and now only pay about $35/month for what I need. There has been zero noticeable difference in coverage. I keep my thermostat at 74 at night with a fan pointed straight on me and I set it to 77 during the day to reduce electricity drain. If I make it through this layoff, the plan is to add additional insulation to my attic to keep lowering my electric bill. I read books from the library for one of my hobbies and I like adult coloring books as well. Both of those hobbies create hours of entertainment for little to no cost. I don't go shopping just to shop and we keep our vehicles 10+ years to ensure we're living well below our means even in the best of times. When we bought this house, our budget was that of a normal couple and not that of an "oil" couple.

The sad truth of it is that everyone in oil and gas knows what industry we work in. We go through frequent layoffs and the goal should always be to live far below your means in case your number ever gets called to be laid-off. If you live far below your means, you basically set yourself to be OK if you're unable to find a job that pays the same. Live like normal people and not like people that work in oil &gas.

Getting rid of all of them, except iCloud. Going back to physical books from the library and DVDs. Amazon Prime is gone because I won’t be ordering much and will have more time to go to bricks and mortar.

I might not have money but I will have time — and that’s worth something.
