Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

Hard work doesn't pay off

Don't ever forget it. You're more likely to get laid off if you're skilled, experienced, and outperform than if you're an average slacker who's just good at office politics. The better you are, the higher the chance you're deemed too expensive for a company that cares neither about the quality of its people nor the quality of what it delivers.

@k9 If there are things you want to keep, start doing it now. Don't try and send files home as they might get blocked and could raise flags. Good luck.

@jj I’m at the high end if my range and they just hired a person who I am supposed to transfer some if my duties to. I am starting to realize I maybe being forced out soon. The area I work in has not been affected by riffs yet but nothing at this company makes any sense so who knows. I’m also older so I think that puts a giant target on my back.

It is mostly about the almighty dollar. I have been in the same role, job grade, for several years with several exceeds rankings sprinkled in over the years which have taken me to the high end of the pay range. We have so many people in our area leaving on their own, layoff demands haven't hit our area yet due to natural attrition so now leadership is trying to run me out of the company since they cannot get rid of me via a riff and I am a high performer/producer that follows the rules, so they can't get enough dirt on me to fire me outright. Anyone else in this company dealing with this same fate? Oh, and by the way, it is a younger inexperienced Director that is trying to run me out. I guess they will get a larger bonus next March if they can make me miserable enough to quit.

My director gave work only if she likes you enough.

If not, I am to helping people completing their work.
