Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

The people running P&C claims

Have no clue. Claims is a sh-t show. The entire company is a sh-t show.

That's another example of their being a bad company. Paying for only wfh states expenses that are required but not all wfh states, because that would be the right thing to do. This company is evil. This needs to also be in the upcoming class action suit.

@ex Not sure if this is accurate or not but if a few states require some form of sick leave, it does not mean they have to give it to employees in states that don't. As an example, right now there are about a 1/2 dozen states that require work from home expenses to be compensated. The company pays a portion of those costs for those employees but has told the rest of us to jump off a bridge instead of paying a small portion of my internet provider bill or cell phone bill

Keep trying, they require paid sick leave, that is why we all got 5 days of Life Leave! Completely different than STD as a company benefit....keep trying troll.

@er so what happens to employees in California, New York, and New Jersey, since those states require STD?

STD is a State Farm benefit they provide to you, so yes they are going to take it away. FMLA is mandated by law. Also they are trying to lose employees. State Farm is the Dollar General/Carnival Cruise/Waffle House of the business world. It has to pay people nothing and can't allow too much tenure as people get too high in the salary range. Plus AI is going to eliminate a lot of jobs, think ILR/Express/Undewriting etc. They have too many people and need to shed salaries.

@e6 I would be skeptical of a lot of this. It will be hard to get rid of STD considering the states that require it.

I seriously doubt what is in previous log. SF would lose too many employees. I'm sure they'd like a reduction but this would send an already spiraling downward company into total chaos with not enough to do they work and then they'd have to hand out stay bonuses. They are already losing enough employees with how bad they su-k now without doing these drastic measures.

You will get to see the new salary and EIP/MIP structures, increased cost of benefits and reduction of your PTO. STD is going away you will be returning to the office 50% of the time. Pension contributions will be frozen and everyone will be put on the 401K match program. More forced reassignments and they will continue to try to weed out as many people as they can to reduce salary expenses. Many remote jobs will be completely eliminated. No severance and they are continuing to apply as much pressure as possible. They will have to change their messaging as SF will officially have to recognize we are no longer #1 in auto. Hold on tight, just when you think it can't get any worse, it will.
