Heard that promotions are back on. But this time, the number of promotions is very slim per department. Anyone know anything?

@25t Some were already announced at the end of April effective May 1st.
Wondering if anybody has heard back, good or bad
Any word on promotion announcements?
@259 Announcing by end of May, effective at beginning of June.
@1hh when are they announcing promotions? Before June?
Any in audit ?
@1hh do you know when they’re being made public or effective?
@1hb my team was told about approved promotions last week, still seemed like a shorter list than what was proposed so theyre keeping it tight
Any updates?
@ka There's no "supposedly" in the mix here. Just plain fact.
Promotions will be made available based on how many pieces of MAGA merch each employee owns. Start wearing your red hats and your Trump sneakers to work and you'll be in the C-suite soon enough!
Promotions needed to be submitted to HR by 4/15. If they are approved they will go through in June. I put in a few and I am already getting pushback. Fun times.
@k6 I actually wasn't talking to you - I was merely answering why anyone would want to climb the ladder at our supposedly shi**y company, and my response was that there were other motivations for wanting a promotion.
@jc don't talk to us, talk to your boss. Typically promotions have nothing to do with workload or talent but more about your boss picking someone who can't replace them or just trustworthy to the boss as not to make complaints against them or just backing up the boss in general
With how bad this company sees and evaluates talent getting promoted means you're probably bad at your job.
@j6 I think it has less to do with climbing the ladder and more feeling rewarded for having to take on all the extra work dumped on us from our colleagues that were laid off. Seeing as it is such a sh---y job market, it is in your best interest to get as higher title and salary as possible in order to leverage for future job hunts.
Lol , people interested in climbing the ladder at THIS company... Seriously?
@cx ai is going to eat your role in 8 months
@eg yeah if you are being promoted to vp or above the only gift you might be getting is a raise for a short time and better severance once u are fired which is inevitable once wb merger happens
"promotions" ? or is it more like "we about to lay more people off so you will be working even more and have more on your plate. so here's a little bump. don't complain."
@cz um the last thing the company is worried about is Promotions
@d9 lol layoffs tied to fiscal year ends.... They're tied to mergers - period!
@cz June, I think. In the past 2 years, I think the layoffs were more tied to fiscal year ends which just happened to coincide with the promo cycle which is traditionally 2x/year.
Anyone know what is the timing for these promotions to be announced? I’m asking because in the past we’ve had a round of layoffs about a month or so before promotions were announced.
@cq Exactly. Also the more you make, the higher the tax bracket. Promotions are a double edge sword. I'm fine staying put in my role as Senior SWE. I shall retire in this roles
Be careful what you wish for… These raises and promotions are going to make you a target for all of these upcoming rounds of layoffs…
They were never really “off.” Promotions have continued on a limited basis throughout the last 2 years despite layoffs. That doesn’t mean every department had budget, but they have definitely been happening and are confirmed to be happening this year.
Heard you know it all
