Thread regarding BP PLC layoffs

Denver office future

Anyone know if we will keep the Denver office open? I would prefer to live in Denver over Houston but not sure if Bpx will consolidate to Houston.

You Denver folk will enjoy living in Houston (if we decide to keep you on after we close our Denver office). The traffic is about the same, no state income tax (so we can moderate your pay a bit), the altitude is a bit lower and the weather is spectacular.

@m4 yes, seems like Sunbury and Aberdeen are already in managed decline.

They should just close all the offices since they are sending our jobs overseas.

@k5 Ok boomer. Lol buddy that was over 26 years ago and an entirely different climate with an entirely different generation and LT. They had to fly everywhere for the same meetings we have via teams now. It would cost $30-50 million to move everyone (with our current relocation policies) alone for negligible cost savings. Give it up.

They closed the Denver office the last time in 1999 post the takeover of Amoco by BP. It did not make much sense then either. A new lease on the building had been recently signed. Leadership is not going to tell the employees if that is going to occur until they have to.

Per the brilliant folks on this site, bpx will be moving back to Houston very soon. Mind you, they’ve been keeping that rumor alive for about 5y now.

Per basic grade school math, there’s no ROI in moving to Houston.

Also, I doubt you’re actually an employee of bpx, because this was addressed in the all hands townhall yesterday.
