Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Layoffs by age

It was just slipped that they are targeting anyone 55 and older. Get a lawyer now and document everything!

@100 You would think, but nah, they consistantly laid off the best brains and talent that provided solid revenue stream. Honeywell does not work like anywhere else hahaha. Seemingly the lazier and more inept you are, the safer you are.

@zt I was just let go and didn't have HON health insurance and also used my wife's. Yes, I'm in the old age group. I was even critical path and never once late on my projects. If orders ever kick up again, the younger guy replacing me won't have enough time in the day to get all that work done. I still have young kids. I'm not that old but I guess by corporate standards I am. Sheesh!

Most of you voted for the dismantling of workers rights anyways, so I’m not sure what you’re complaining about.

I was a prime target for the second Covid layoff; a long time dedicated employee (old), paid well for a reason (in-depth knowledge in my area of expertise in mechanical design).
Took a similar position with GE, now on their highest priority military program.
I’m proof they pretty much su-k on making intelligent decisions for layoffs. Thanks Honeysuck for pushing me out to a more
meaningful life.

Its good to rid the company of dead wood every so often. If they are under 55 and lazy see ya! If they are over 55 and lazy, see ya! If you make too much, see ya!

Its all a bottom line business. How much revenue do you bring in vs how much you cost. If your ratio is less than 4 to 1, you are toast.

It's all tied to the amount of money HON has to sink into your personal health insurance costs. Once I hit 50 and had some age required tests performed, I was gone that 12/14 date exactly. Go figure! Co-worker at 55 who used wife's health insurance, but was a total tool as well as a buffoon of a worker, was kept instead. Keep your costs down and you may be able to buy a few more years...

its a good idea to fake a disability and milk them for a year so they can't lay you off

@OP absolutely record everything possible, at all times. keep your records. Speak to an attorney. Many attorneys will give free consultations regarding a potential case. There are also contingency arrangements possible for potential cases. Protect yourself. You are the only one who will.

Like many leaders whose behavior is exposed by lawsuit at Honeywell she just moved on to another company. Many move to Medtronic. Mostly depends on location.

@jz how about this? A Honeywell HR director sued Honeywell. A lawyer and an HR person sued Honeywell for age discrimination! Must be really bad as both are supposed to be defenders of Honeywell from employees who bring up age discrimination cases.

@b2 just last week an ex Honeywell senior lawyer sued Honeywell for age and ancestry discrimination. Honeywell is in big trouble as this is an ex lawyer who must know how Honeywell operates. https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/honeywell-exec-in-china-claims-she-was-fired-due-to-her-age-as-she-turned-55/ar-AA1JSfBn?ocid=BingNewsSerp

When they do a layoff they make sure that they have a standard distribution curve of the ages of all laid off. Everyone laid off gets a copy as proof age didn't go into it.

This is what happening behind the numbers.
For every old person they also target a younger person with only a few years at the company to balance the curve and have a small severance. This is why mid career employees from other companies are hit so hard in layoffs, and why you end up with a split workforce over 50 years old or under 30.

HW (Allied Signal) got in big trouble in the 90's for targeting older employees. They now have refined the targeting process with HR and legal to get anybody out at anytime with no issues with the law. Where there is a will there's a way. They will cut anybody older or who makes lots of $$$. You are nothing more than a revenue generator.
