Ethics and Compliance training

Anybody else offended by the latest and greatest training. It’s kinda gross! I’m offended.

I really think Ethics and Compliance needs to focus on enforcing the rule against retaliation. It almost seems as if senior leaders are taught how to retaliate without repercussions. Legal has had and still may have its own issues with “challenging” leaders and should not be involved. Ethics and Compliance must take the lead but I doubt that will happen.

@ka Do you think the culture within 3M Legal changed when the current GC took over the role? It seems now the Code of Conduct does not apply if the person violating the code is senior management and bullying is considered a good leadership skill. It appeared the former GC (not a long time 3Mer) believed in the Code of Conduct and things changed after he left. The people I knew in Legal are gone but they did not seem happy when they were at 3M.

@qt he was promoted for excellence in brown nosing telling every single director and vice president that they are the best and the smartest. Those so called leaders have oversized egos and believe such blatant brown nosing.

@em
Funny you mention him. He was even able to steal project from China and took credit for himself only and got a promotion. He is a joker so they like him. HR does not understand who the true wrong doers are

@jt this SVP is best friends with the CTO, therefore, he is untouchable. He can promote whomever he wants whether they deserve it or not.

@jt both 3M Legal and HR are the worst I’ve ever seen. So risk adverse when it comes to the business but at the same time do nothing to stand up for right and wrong with employees.

The same person continued doing it on other occasions to impress current SVP R&D and was able to secure the job he wanted in CRL and CRD. Wonder what HR is doing in 3M. Closes its eyes when it involves SVP and above possibly.

@e7 I remember a few years ago we had to take a compliance course on bribery. Around the same time one of the people in the department invited his boss and the division vice president to his daughter's lavish Indian wedding and gifted their wives expensive saris to wear for the event. A few weeks later the father of the bride got promoted. The rest of us had a good laugh about the it.

I'm not offended by the training; I'm offended by the way that my senior leadership is doing exactly the things I should be reporting, but if I say anything I'll the one whose job is at risk.

What did they do? Use real world examples from Sir George's tenure and flights to Japan?

You are "offended" by the ethics & compliance training. It's "gross." Are you 12?
