I was pushed out the door unfairly several years ago. Got a call today asking if I want to come back? How can this be? I was told if you get pushed out you can’t ever return.

The real question is WHY are you even entertaining the idea of even "thinking" about going back ??? I have serious questions regarding your sanity or intelligence.
Time to go back and give them their Comeuppance!
Sounds like you were being abused by your Boeing manager, Lead and HR.
It would have been incumbent if you had taken action immediately and legal action after. The first thing you should have done would have been to remove yourself from the undesirable situation, then get a Lawyer. Never, ever stay and try and work behind the scenes as that shows things weren't unbearable, just uncomfortable and that's no reason to sue.
What a comedian, there hasn't been a genius at Boeing in over 40 years.
@jf
removal of high cost salary
will boost stocks
it doesn't appear to matter if the employee is genius or not
I was let go several years ago. I was fired for missing an unrealistic due date, which nobody in my group, including my useless manager could have pulled off either. I think this assignment was pushed me to fire me. My useless Boeing manager was getting her jollies when she told me I was gone but only after she called IT to disable my computer, so I could not send out an email to long term associates at Boeing I had worked with.
Then I got a call today about Boeing jobs. I am not sure if it was a Boeing person who called me or a outside recruiter. Whoever it was, they told me there are 737 engineering jobs in Everett. I don't even bother following news about Boeing anymore, so I was surprised that Boeing is building the 737's in Everett now. I did not ask the person who called me today, but thought my former manager told me I did not have return rights to come back to Boeing. So why is Boeing or whoever wasting my time calling me up now.
Desperation, its a combination of
no one wanting to work there,
their inability to staff appropriately,
people know the first lever they pull will be layoffs when the first bad quarter hits.
When they do lay off, they lay off senior people because they think the noob out of college can replace a 25 year vet
No-one wants to work for cigarette companies, or aircraft companies with blood on their hands.
