Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

C Anthony Town Hall

I personally felt he demonstrated why our company is ranked # 567 out of 600 Companies for Employee Culture.
He said nothing new but did double down that in spite of reading the survey comments, nothing is going to change.
Let me repeat that… Nothing is going to change.
He symbolizes what is wrong with our once great company.
Bravado yet doesn’t know what he doesn’t know.

For the love of God why can't we get rid of these entrenched exec's. They act like they have a job here for life and they should have been gone a long time ago.

We need to roll out Market Driven Executives.
We also need to test their executive skill sets twice yearly to verify they are keeping up.
10 toes down tells us that C Anthony is not up to the task.

If anyone wants a #567 baseball cap, I will be selling them in the Alpharetta parking lot during the lunch hour and after work.

It is so clear that Corey was never quailified for his position. I remember years ago when his dialogue sounded more like ........oh gosh I can't say that. I need to be nice. LOL
They want zombies on autopilot to not challenge anything. And hey they can no longer say they are ECO friendly. Loot at the fuel that is needlessly wasted so you can drop your laptop on a different desktop and do that exact same thing. This collaboration bs they
spew is garbage.

@jq "I would put a pause on more Town Hall meetings and Employee Group Conferences unless your Heart is in it. It makes no sense to pretend to care when you don’t or if you’re uninterested in meeting with employees."

This is spot on. You do NOT have to do quarterly townhalls just because. Stop listening to your Chief of Staff team tell you that employees want this. We don't. A simple email telling us the latest is fine. I don't need another insulting moment where you don't want to answer our questions. Nor do I need another panel where everyone laughs at sh*t jokes and pretends collaboration is alive and well. We know it's not.

Just stop it. Culture is broken. Schedule a townhall when there's truly something meaningful to say. That's what those are supposed to be. Not a double down on John's awful letter.

Corey AAntonee . You are a weak puppet. You do town halls like your'e on a sedative. No emotions or feeling. Simply repeating like a parrot what your DOM partner John Stinkhole tells you to say. And you are paid way too much for a guy that really has no value for shareholders or employees. You know why your'e in that position. For the love of God why can't we get rid of these entrenched exec's. They act like they have a job here for life and they should have been gone a long time ago.

Who here has shaken his hand?

  1. He’s short. I’d say like 5’8”

  2. He shakes hands like a woman. A complete limp dish.

One time I introduced myself and once he heard I was way below him he turned around and walked away.

What a leader!

"Yet here you remain"

Apparently the man told them he did not care to discuss what they thought about having to work in an office. Clearly not his own policy. They lack the courage to address it directly with the policy maker, and instead take pot shots at the messenger. That about sums it up.

During a team call a coworker provided me the link to this site and the link to Forbes’ ranking list. I can see why Forbes rated us the way they did based on chatter around the office and a sampling of the comments here.
I’m nearing retirement and I’ve seen a lot. There have been ups and downs with the company over the years.
I have a few suggestions to our Leadership team if I may.
I would put a pause on more Town Hall meetings and Employee Group Conferences unless your Heart is in it. It makes no sense to pretend to care when you don’t or if you’re uninterested in meeting with employees. When you’re not invested in solving problems or hearing what we think , it shows. Trust me, it shows. There is underlying animus that rises to the surface if certain problems are asked about. If you don’t want to discuss them, don’t have a meeting. Don’t request feedback or surveys until you’re ready to discuss them.
Another suggestion would be to perhaps go back to looking more professional. Wear suits and dress shirts, even ties or pants suits if appropriate. A professional look may help to cut down on the unpleasant and unnecessary comments aimed at employees. Just a thought. A professional look may help remind you you’re an executive at a large corporation and that you should act accordingly.
When I worked in San Ramon, our organization hired an outside consultant to help us with presentations. It taught me how to behave and how to speak clearly and to stay on message. It’s about getting back to management basics. I doubt I would have lasted this long if I had stood before the employees and made sarcastic comments or rolled my eyes about topics I didn’t want to discuss.
These are friendly suggestions that may help get us moving forward. A back to management basics.
Look professional, talk intelligently and respond appropriately.
Don’t have a meeting unless you’re ready to meet with the employees.
Be prepared and respectful.
Thank you and good luck to everyone.

“We Will Be Unapologetic”. - C Anthony.
I don’t normally comment here because it’s hard to take the criticism seriously at times.
But when he said this so defiantly “ “We Will Be Unapologetic”, you have to question why are these people so angry at the employees?
A lot of silly comments are posted but there are plenty of serious topics that should be asked and addressed.
The leadership fails at even trying to understand that it’s not cool to fire someone for false Presence and Hourly Reports. It’s just not fair. Yet it happened.
When I was promoted years ago, we were trusted to work 8-9 hours a day or more without all this supervision and surveillance UNLESS there was a problem. Today , we are micromanaging our employees to the point where we don’t feel we can leave the office, even if we have an emergency because we don’t want to get fired. That’s not cool folks.
We come to these town halls and submit questions online but are treated to disrespectful behavior and comments such as “ “We Will Be Unapologetic”.”
I’m over 50 years old. Why would you talk to another grown man like that?
“We Will Be Unapologetic”.—. Please tone down the disrespect and have real conversations with the employees.

If some of these “leaders” work elsewhere they won’t be promoted or _they won’t last long because they lack class.
I can only imagine them saying “ what do you mean I can’t talk down to my audience and act out, become angry”?

@fj I didn’t see that listed by employees as an issue. Did you see that listed?
Or were the issues listed as no desks, unsafe dimly lit parking lots, no assigned desks, sitting all alone in solitary confinement, etc etc.
ten toes down and that’s the truth

It’s not fair to blame our 567 ranking on the town hall alone , and it hadn’t even happened yet.
Ten toes down, right side up, any which way but loose.
Okay ?
Also the whole webcast wasn’t that bad.
Only the surly parts were bad.

This town hall was an embarrassment. Unfortunately, the current leadership team has been given a green light to act like bellicose children.
Instead of trying to hear what the issues are and come up with solutions, they become angry and entitled. How many times have they said “there’s the door” instead of “let’s figure out a path forward. These people could not get promoted outside of AT&T. They are why Forbes ranked ATT at 567 out of 600 for employee Culture.

@eb I do have it recorded because it’s been one insulting, arrogant hour after another. Never seen this before.
McElF__ with his angry rant at employees.
J Le
with his profanity laced webcasts trying to act “hip”. Insults galore.
The EGC HR moderator who heaped unearned lavish praise on her boss instead of addressing the employee survey results.
Here we have C Anthony barely holding in his contempt and says he can’t stand talking about How and Where We Work when it’s his damn job.
Oh and of course the main man talking about applesauce and Yugos but can’t address issues.
What they all have is in common is that they believe they can act unprofessionally without losing their jobs.
They should act more professionally

This guy is p!ssed and rattled. Keep bringing RTO up at all town halls and the like. Bring up 567. If you’re lucky he’ll flip out and someone will record it and it will get out. These people are like roaches. They don’t like the light. They want to control the narrative. Make them squirm. It may not change conditions but at least they’ll have to deal with the distraction.

Referring to How and Where We Work, Mr Anthony stated the following:
“We Will Be Unapologetic”.
Further, he stated:
“You Don’t Have an Option to do this—- I choose to stay here but I’m gonna fight it every step of the way. I’m gonna resist it every step of the way.
He went on to say the following:
“You can’t do that. You can’t fight it Cause We aren’t going to change it “.
——————-
What the heck is that coming from leadership during a Town Hall meeting?
How does this toxic atmosphere help ?
If he’s so unimpressed with the employees, why does he stay with AT&T?
I’ve been around for years and this is not good stuff , when leadership can talk like this because they know that they can not be fired for it.

Dear Mr Anthony:

None of the people that i work with are in my physical location. None of the people in my physical location are my friends.

As such, any communications are on a strict necessity basis. Think "excuse me", "the elevator is down that hall to the right" or "yes, I'm having trouble connecting as well". Absolutely nothing more.

I WILL remain earbuds-in for the duration, so I can get some minor enjoyment out of this situation that I'm forced into and you WILL NOT do anything to stop me.

Thank you very much for your attention to this matter.

Why we are ranked 567 out of 600:
This Town Hall is an example of why morale is so low.
It was billed as a Town Hall, but the 90 minutes was mostly scripted and scheduled on purpose to avoid any genuine discussion. Let me repeat that.

The 90 minutes was mostly scripted and scheduled on purpose to avoid any genuine discussion.
Why does he hold such a high position at our company when he does things like this? We’re an International company and there has to be more qualified people.
The very few minutes left to discuss employees’ concerns were invalidated by his underlying hostile attitude that employees are the problem. When he said Where and How We Work concerns we had weren’t going to change anything , you have to ask yourself “why bother”?
He is part of the toxic culture that gets us to be ranked 567.

No one has mentioned that they didn’t address a single online question. The questions were very good but Anthony didn’t have the guts to answer them.
Can’t anyone see how morally bankrupt this company has become? They “pretend” to care and put on a show, then at some point, they can no longer hide their anger and are seething.
Why don’t these upper elite managers go somewhere else instead of telling us to?

@cy agreed. They think employees are the problem when in fact , we have lousy leadership. That’s why we’re ranked 567 out of 600. They don’t get it.
Anthony said don’t come in and resist.
My suggestion would be to never fill out a survey again.
