Thread regarding Optum layoffs

3/19 round

Is 3/19 still the next big round? Any insights on which parts of Optum? Specifically anywhere is Optum Health/Care?

@jn maybe because people are worried about their livelihood? What a d-mb thing to say

Why do people always ask this. It's never specific anywhere. Because they are large, it's spread throughout the org. They come calling to managers to see where they can trim. Business unit doesn't really matter when the goals are hundreds to thousands of "heads".

@ef We are going to lose clinics for sure next week - Kingsville. Another round in April.

Not Optum laying people off then doing a town hall and saying some sh-t like “now we have exactly the right people here”. Pay attention to the next one - they say this like every single town hall.

@eh If they do have layoffs the same day as the town hall meeting is so sad!

@ef The Town Hall is actually the key that there WILL be layoffs (notwithstanding that they announced 3/19 as one of the dates in an executive meeting many posted photos of back in Jan). It's their M.O. around every layoff thus far. Lay off a bunch of people and then hold a Town Hall to have a fake cheerleading pep rally where they pretend they didn't just get rid of a bunch of people and instead try to brainwash everyone attending into thinking they're doing so much good, all the while never answering a single question in the chat demanding answers to the latest round of cuts.

I’m going to assume there will not be too many layoffs that day since there is a town hall.

Wellmed employed clinics in TX will be hit hard, including some closures.
