Pete’s recent announcement has shaken up the platform technology team, which will now be moved under the leadership of another Amazon executive in the product division. As a result, Amazon leaders are now reporting to other Amazon leaders, displaying signs of favoritism through close friendships.
Sooner or later, skilled talent will be laid off and replaced by Amazon engineers.

USB employees who were laid off during Ajit and Ian’s leadership were let go because they lacked cloud knowledge. Meanwhile, the people we brought in from Amazon or chase bank aren’t even working in cloud roles and holding senior leadership roles intentionally began to micromanage. This is a clear example of the cloud certification program led by Madhu failing.
@jkk+1vmmGUAO an Amazon leader I see. What a joke.
This must be a letter from Pete to just the platform teams. I’m under him, but I didn’t see anything. Who is moving
It’s interesting how Amazon leaders have thrown the entire platform team into chaos in their pursuit of generating more cash for personal agenda. Evidently proved, why Amazon had laid off these employees, as they were seen as unhelpful to both Amazon and to U.S. Bank.
Interesting take. It reminds me of how consulting services like Accenture, EDS, and IBM switch from tech consultants to actually facilitating outsourcing in the early 2000s.. It's plausible the cloud providers may be doing the same thing to outsource IT to their cloud services.
Maybe that’s a good thing? Look at how Amazon stock performance compared to US bank in the last 5 years. Engineer standard needs to be higher at US bank. Too many lazy and incompetent “tech lead” here
