Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

I find it funny when I come here....after 5-10 years of finding out about this forum....

That not one single person I have come across on here has said that there time at Oracle was great, satisfactory, lived up to their expectations, that it went as well as they had hoped. Not one single person. I reckon after many careers are long gone and forgotten, there will be tons of self reflection. For those people that intentionally hurt people, I reckon they will have the worst guilt. The funniest thing of all, they're typically the people that never did the real work and will be left with, "what the he-l did I even do all those years? did it even matter? who did I even help?" They will come to the conclusion they gave up being human to buy more things and fill such big voids in their lives. I can't say one good thing came out of my time at Oracle and that's sad. So many wasting so much time.....a waste of time in our lives.

Most accurate comment I've read about Oracle in a long time. Thank you. Perfect...

Ya know what? Just a quick read through these comments says all one needs to know about working at Oracle. There clearly is racism, bitter politics, incompetent management, lazy employees, and obvious disrespect. What is also clear is that Oracle does not foster a good workplace nor does it foster respect among its own employees, And many employees don't have respect for the company that pays them well and offers them exceptional benefits.

I used to be at Oracle for 20+ years. Glad to heaven I'm gone.

OP here....loving these last few comments....as for white vs indian, it's not like that at all....I loved working with a lot of indian people....but people that treat anyone like cr-p, dont care what race you are, you're just a bad person. Dont tell me that you have to treat people bad to get them motivated to work. I had a PM who threatened me one time for wanting off a staff aug boring support project that was going to the worms. I'm like I need a real project. He threatens me with "well if you want off this project, Oracle might see that as a bad trait and let you go...." Imagine saying to someone, "well wanting to grow may not be what Oracle wants for you..." The dude was pathetic and sad. His main reason for saying that was cause he had no friends in the city the project was in that he also lived. You just dont set people up like that. I am 10-12 years removed from that now and have grown immensely as a person; if he said that today, he'd be confronted that very second....and the piece of my mind he would get, he would never forget. Very simple, don't treat people like they're your kids or like your sl-aves. That's wrong.

Couldn't agree more. And it's obvious that none of the remaining employees have any self respect.

So much info on this site. Perfect for investigative journalist. Mgmt is the absolute worst. They seem to hang out on this site and bully, degrade and show their ignorant remarks.. SC needs to read these posts. She has no idea that these creatures run their operations. Lie.steal and cheat, abuse employees and found out today from another site that there is some organized crime involvement. Be careful.

What’s the story with so many immature Oracle guys with attitude posting here ? These clowns should ALL be on layoff. Oracle does not need people like them. The one commenter was right - Indian employees show a whole lot more class and respect than lots of white, arrogant guys who think the world owes them something. Let ‘em find work elsewhere, I’m sure In N Out will take them as burger flippers.

I am white. I absolutely loved working with any Indian folks I came across. Since leaving Oracle and working with more, it's a joy. When I first started, it was all whites and blacks in my area. Then as cloud grew, more Indians. Now I can see, the level of professionalism, but also the ease of, "we can get this done and we want you to be a part of it" was so much more inclusive and also so much more respect and appreciation from a team aspect. The white gentlemen I started at O for was not only incompetent from a skill and absolute technical perspective, he was a liar and someone who would snake you to make his boss happy in a second. He's been there for like 20-30 years I think. Absolutely useless. I always found it funny when he would end up managing someone who was 100x more technical than him and he'd be super cluless to even the most basic stuff and the more technical people would just get out of meetings and laugh and say "Oh poor Todd.....he's just so lost.....but his only job is to kiss Mary's butt...and make her happy....so he's never getting fired...." I just never saw how you could have any pride in being such a useless mo--n.

Looks like we have some loons posting here, complete with all that “HAHAHA” garbage. No wonder Oracle is canning so many whites and hiring Indians. There is a difference when it comes to maturity and basic professionalism.

Safra, keep RIFing whites and keep up the “Indianization” of Oracle.

haha. typical oracle troll. just push a "problem" away so as to not upset the apple cart. I can't even imagine managing implementations and transformations if I didn't know how to deal with problems (personnel, task, etc). Such a rookie comment or someone who is just one of those "everything is great" people who aren't even doing the work. lots of those at O.

You sound like EVERY Oracle manager.....instead of working a problem.....you want to get rid of it. WOW. So what the OP is honest about what happeend and how he or she feels? Look at you. Such a typical Oracle troll or robot. Ohhhhhh. Let's get rid of him cause he is honest, gives honest feedback and criticism and he wants to improve things!!! FIRE HIM! How do you expect things to get better? Like wow. Imagine you're the problem cause you're honest about what is wrong. Pathetic loser.

OP here....let me tell you how offended I am by such hurtful comments by some strangers so on bended hands and knees for their daddy Larry. hahahahahahhahahaa. Cracking up at some of these comments. I didn't say Oracle was all bad. I said MY experience. I am sure at least 5-10 people out of 155,000 have had great times there. Over it. Gave me a good laugh some of these comments. Granted, Oracle did allow me to save a lot of money, even though I got 3 raises in 15 years. I will still retire early. hahahahahahaha.

Aside from the God tag, I don't see his post as arrogant or S**B. He definitely knows what he's talking about and he wasnt' in sales. I don't know where you worked in Oracle, but I was in consulting and while we had some good people, we had a lot of really terrible people, lots in mgmt. People doing things I've never seen since I left. You're welcome to your opinions, but I don't fully agree with your take on the OP....

Oh my God. He or she signed as God. What will the internet do? Relax already. I’m sure e person doesn’t think their God. Is this oracle mgmt? Don’t you have a toilet to lick? People come here for laughs and to vent and let off steam. TBH, 99% of what is said on here about oracle and most other companies is true. I’m not at oracle any more but no one I know that left after careers ever said they miss it or it was a good experience; so there’s some truth to what is all over this site. Well lots really. But hey. People need money to buy all the things the neighbor has and keep their addictions going.

oracle is filled with terrible folks and most of them reside in mgmt. worst I ever saw in 30 years of being in tech. they bought company I was at and it was a mess. then the gbu that bought our company didn't know the tech, couldnt update it, treated us like we were the red-headed stepchild cause we werent the top selling app in our gbu. few years in, the gbu leadership stopped supporting the dev and the marketing or support of the product. eventually all of us that were happy with our small successful company left. looks like similiar happens every year with them. i dont know where it comes from, but just lots of people making decisions for loads of other people who are not skilled or experienced enough to do so. I wish we never got acquired. People were happy.

If really nothing good comes out of your time working at any company really, I'd question if this rather has to do something with personality. I worked at great and also mediocre companies in my career so far - with Oracle being in the mediocre category - and always had some great times in each of those companies. I left a job after short time when I found out I cannot be happy in that position.
And if someone is really unhappy in their job and still stays for over 10 or 15 years, sorry take your fate in your own hands and change something.

That can be true until a criminal steals the work of an honest person then, the honest person becomes well aware that criminals do exist. If you or a famly member becomes a victim of a crime and you believe everyone is honest then, you are likley to be always be a vicitm. There are many people that go into law enforcement and are trained in
Criminalogy. Criminal Justice is a lucrative profession.

There are alof of honest people become prosecutors, investigators or any type of law enforcment officers. Auditors, forensic accountants or anyone with a professional license have ethics standards that are tested in order to earn their designation or license by the state or multi states. . Nobody wants doctor, CPA, Stockbroker, Architect, banker etc that is involved with criminal activity. There are honest lawyers, too. being involved with criminals can be professional su----e just by association. There is alot to be said for "show me your friends and I will tell you who you are"

Unfortunately, there are naive people that get involved with criminals. Often criminals will use honest people to try to hide their crimes.

Alof ot honest people are in certain positions are trained to be aware of certain crimes. That does not make them criminals. A VP in any Corp has a legal duty to protect the assets of the Corp and to minimize the expenses especially in a publicly traded Corp. If they are aware of a colleague that has stolen work or misued funds, cheated on business expenses then, they have a responsibility to report that person.

If it becomes known in an investigation that, a person was aware of criminal activity and did not report it then, they could be charged with obstruction of justice or as an accessory depending on what the crime is. Same goes with a personal friend or family member. The government will often investigate those that are involved with the criminal. If that person lies to a fedrral or state agent then, they are in trouble. It pays to not associate with suspects.

I thought I had a fullfilling and impactful career at Oracle. I was working as a consultant for one of the app groups. I was proud of my role, making progress, and was very visible. And then what happened caught me off guard. I quickly rose up the ranks on our consulting team, but no matter how much I asked for new projects, they always went to a small handful of people. People I had passed as I just wanted to be better and they were stagnant. No matter what I did, I never got the interesting project work. Then I was asked to do all types of side projects...what happened? One of the people in our exec mgmt stole my work and presented it as his own. What else happeend? Senior people (like people with 10-15 years more exp in the app than me) started sabotaging everything I did. Going so far as to run and tell their bosses about private conversations we had had. Looking back, I realized I wasnt working in a tech group. I was in high school. It makes me laugh today to think people who are now in their 60s had it out for the guy who was 10-15 years younger than them. Instead of being collaborative and a mentor, they were trying to be a tattle tale and just breaking ranks to butter up some useless director. It happened several times to me. At the end of my career, I realized I had worked with a ton of cowards. Cowards who couldn't keep up. Some still doing the same work cause they could never grow and never had the guts to try and make it without all the help they had internally. Hilarious.

Not SEC guy. Just a guy that worked with a ton of useless people who masqueraded as professionals and for the most part were liars. Many are still in the same area. It’s not cause they like it, it’s cause their resumes and skills are pathetic and no other tech companies would dare even look at them. It’s really just being cr-ppy people that should matter. Liars through and through.

Interesting and typical that the responses are degrading to OP. It is telling that the character has not changed. I do believe that there will be at least one conviction, soon. It’s probably due to a more serious crime from extra curricular greed that will lead investigators back to his criminal behavior at Oracle. When a person steals to be promoted then they usually continue until they get caught. Unfortunately others get hurt.

It's your lucky day. I can say this. It's the best place I worked for during 23 years of my career. It doesn't say much, I didn't work for Google or other giants.

First of all, you aren't God.

Some of my time at Oracle was very fulfilling and interesting, and dare I say, impactful. A majority of the time, even. So there, you can no longer make the main point any longer.
I will say that some of the time and interaction was extremely frustrating and illogical also. But if not one good thing came out of your efforts, I would really have to question if that would be the fault of the company or the specific person.

And yeah, so many wasting time - like in reading this thread.

Had you heard of LE prior to joining Oracle? Did you do any homework at all before joining? If yes why did you join?

Or if you ended up at Oracle through an acquisition did you do your due diligence then?

And finally, regardless of the scenario why the @#$% did you stay so long? As I see it that's all on you.
