Thread regarding FactSet Research Systems Inc. layoffs

How are we supposed to feel after this?

Morale was already down, and now we can add to that feeling completely disposable. Knowing some of the people who were laid off, it's clear nothing we do, no matter how good or knowledgeable we are will save us. How are we supposed to deal with that and continue working like everything is the same?

@jc - Obviously the head of HR is doing a good job protecting her team. Agree, there's no reason for such a large empire there.

@jb none - still over 100 people and growing.

Same with HR, Recruiting, and Finance.

Most disfunctional teams and departments.

The overall factset experience is lesser than most other tech companies. It’s a matter of time before they get bought out. Feel for all those affected by the layoffs, for the others we should get looking now

It’s a harsh reality. I’d say start by believing nothing coming from the leaders. They’re out for themselves and no one else. They will cheerlead, to try to convince people how great we’re doing.

Do the bare minimum. Going above and beyond leads to more work and no significant increase at year end. Take your vacation time and don’t be available for when youre OOO or after hours.

To the people making unnecessary comments - have some respect. Yeah this isn’t a charity, but try to imagine being a top performer on your team and then getting let go out of the blue. People have mortgages, kids, health expenses, student loan debt.

Was part of layoffs, its sort of a breath of fresh air since I've been at factset for a while. I had stock options but the strike price was when it was at $422 haha.

@OP

It’s a job. Not a family. Do your job but realize they don’t owe you anything more than pay for work. You are an employee at will (their will). You may read about how different factset used to be and much of it is true. But it’s also a very different time. So always have your resume ready and interview to keep your options open. You don’t owe any special loyalty to factset.
