Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Reduce processes by 50%...

This top 5 goal is a major change, easily categorized as transformative if anything close to that is achieved. Has anyone seen any metrics / reporting of progress on this? I don't think achieving progress on this goal is realistic without senior leaders leading the way and taking work out (reporting overload being 1). Haven't been here long, this seems like a pipe dream...generally interested in your thoughts?

@p3
Engine is the solution :)
Since they are not familar with the Chevron procesess they can reduce the processes by not using them.

@jc spot on…what company has a better performance culture? What companies align with CVX

@cq it will be something like 'out of the 100 processes submitted for elimination, we eliminated or offshored 50". Mark my words haha

Start with business planning. Confusing & convoluted mess.

Shouldn't "ENGINE" be able to solve the process problem...and all others. Lol

Excessive process and employee disenfranchisement is the reason Chevron bought Noble and Hess. Internal CVX people spin flywheels and have difficulty getting things done. CVX will need to purchase another company after this mini oil bo-m.

Reduce processes? They've added WAY more processes and unproductive time. Many additional work processes before starting the work, then more processes to select the work, even more to document the work, then that documentation isn't good enough, so need to jump through unproductive time hoops to document it right, disrupting everything else going on. It never ends. It's also all our fault for not knowing better. I think I finally see the light: we've introduced SO MANY NEW unproductive processes in the past year that we now have so much low hanging fruit to reduce those by 50%.

I’ve seen this pushed many times in the past, headcount is reduced but processes never are! Burnout occurs! Good luck everyone.

I find it hilarious that it’s on RB’s PMP to reduce 50% of processes, and the largest organization under TPE is LC’s which has been bloated by EY’s newly established processes.

I remember back in the CSOC days an instructor was so excited to announce the Chevron had over 10,000 processes enterprise-wide. I was like, "I don't think that's the flex you think it is, bro."

The process is over process…but, if AI is capable of simplifying. Half the exploration team have convoluted process and workflows few understand or can navigate…that’s why so many mid career cat ladies assisting with the workflow. Get AI to simplify…send the cat lady who can’t find oil back to her apartment and boxed wine.

This is one of the most infuriatingly Chevron things ever. You took a core concept that we DO need to do (reduce processes) and put a metric around it. Worse yet, it’s a metric that makes no sense. To reduce by 50% you have to have a starting number and and ending number where you count processes. Interested to hear how they make up both of those.

"We need to reduce work processes" and "we need to standardize everything" are two Chevron priorities that will come into conflict frequently.

We need a process to reduce processes

The process bloat is mostly the fault of middle managers who needed to do something - anything - to put in their PMP or protect their little empires. Until they’re gone the processes will remain and will probably continue to be made worse.
