Bad news for med surg this week. Does anyone know the full count of people let go? Other parts of the Company too?

@np if you want to work as nd are capable of working any age works. I retired at 67 and only because I detested my manager. I wanted to keep working and was more than capable of working. Heck with grandkids!!

I think NPWT is safe especially since the so called leaders are looking to buy at least one more wound care company, IF NOT MORE.
The surgical portfolio will be divided up and sold to other companies. Warming to Stryker? Sterilization to Steris? Preps to BD?

I mean no disrespect and don’t want you to take it that way. But at 70 why didn’t you voluntarily retire and give someone young a chance to make a living? Enrolling for a masters at 70 is insane if you are still trying to work. If you want it as personal bucket list item, go for it but with hundreds of thousands of young people needing a break, this isn’t the time for old people to hug a spot.

I would appreciate knowing how many people were impacted by this latest strategic initiative—or rather, forced retirement—stemming from the move from Solventum and upper management changes. I miss the old days before Bryan Henson and the repeated management overhauls at 3M.

I spent 15 years with this company: first as a KCI Service Manager and then the last seven years as a sales representative, all in the same geographic territory. My case managers, clinicians, and patients have always relied on me as their primary advocate for Negative Pressure needs. My sales teammates are younger and rarely respond to calls or texts in a timely manner. Despite that, I earned the President’s Inner Circle award three times during my sales tenure—one of those trips was to Hawaii.

Even though my numbers were strong, management wanted a young, impressionable candidate who would “drink the Kool-Aid” and never question directives, regardless of whether they wasted time or added no value. It didn’t matter that, as a PSTS (Patient Transition Support Specialist), I was performing at 115% to plan. The decision was simply to “get rid of the old guy” and retain the young post-acute sales rep who is currently at -10% to plan.

My immediate manager offered no alternatives—just thanked me for my professionalism—even though two roles created by this restructuring are now being advertised in the same territory, roles I could easily fill. Unfortunately, these new hires will know nothing about patient care; they’re just leeches on a healthcare system that enables parasites to slice and dice those of us who truly care.

On a personal note, I was admitted to law school the day before the layoff and plan to complete a master’s in Health Law & Policy within a year. Not bad for an “old guy” approaching 70.

@c6 Unfortunately, Bryan used his last ace of trump last December. His one "free" (hey don't blame me, I'm the new guy!) purge of thousands of productive and loyal employees as an early Christmas bonus last year didn't work. In fact, it made things worse both internally (morale) and externally (customer service). Now a year later, stock price stuck in the 70s, no dividend, and an irate billionaire activist investor pulling Bryan's strings from a Florida yacht, Bryan goes back to his usual playbook. Hire buddies like Heather from other companies and pad their bank accounts. (Quietly) fire people in smaller lots, like a sn---r picking off straggling soldiers in retreat formation. Bryan doesn't realize that employees see through his puffed-up fake hairdo and Botox cheeks. Mr. Looking Good is actually Mr. Overpaid Buffoon. His four-year plan will enrich himself and buddies like Heather so they can go off into retirement with 8 figure bank accounts. While the sad victims of this greed have to make costly emergency withdrawals from 401K. SOLV is a corporate tragedy that even Shakespeare couldn't have written so well.

It would be interesting to see how many were let go in medsurg vs dental vs HIS over the past month. It seems like Hanson is laying people off quietly, week by week, because he doesn't want to divulge this information. Solventum Way was terrible in Dec 2024, but at least it was addressed and employees were aware that this was happening. Now, he doesn't even care enough to acknowledge layoffs are happening.

Let go last December. Not a single offer so far. Last role was software engineer but most of my experience was system admin.
At 55 I doubt I will find a comparable position again. Door dash is how I am filling my days. It su-ks but at least I’m staying busy.
