Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

Leaving

I care about the work I do at Truist and genuinely value my team. That said, after several years in the same position without a clear path to the next step in my career, I’ve started to feel stalled. There hasn’t been an opportunity to grow into a new role or take on responsibilities that align with where I want to go professionally. At this stage in my career, advancement and development matter a great deal to me, and I’m beginning to question whether staying at Truist supports those goals.

If I do receive an offer elsewhere, is providing two weeks’ notice always the best approach? What are the potential consequences of resigning without notice—for example, informing my manager late on a Friday that I’m leaving effective immediately?

Where are the “would they give you a two week notice if they laid you off” people? They are probably posting about AVPs instead.

Don’t burn a bridge you may need down the road. Be a professional and give notice.

This feels like a bot post but I will contribute anyway.

Give a notice, and be willing to work it, if for no other reason than to not make it worse on your peers. Other than that, pack your bags and get the heck away from SunTruist you will be much happier.

Be professional to the end. The financial industry is small and full of recycled people going from one bank to the other. You might find yourself working with those same people again. And to the point below, it's been my experience that there is extreme favoritism at this company. Look at the org chart, and you will see the men to women ratio is drastic. But definitely go where you are valued. I hope the right doors open up for you soon. Good luck.

I understand. Promotions are not merit based here, but rather who you know or based on looks. Yes, men in power promote attractive blond women over qualified canidates. But do yourself a favor and give 2 weeks notice. Your reputation is everything. Don't let this place take that away from you.

On the off chance this is a legitimate post, I'll say you should never burn your professional bridges. All communities are smaller than you might think and doing something out of spite to your current manager could be the blocker for your future success somewhere else. Two weeks is standard for a reason. Give them that and exit on a positive accord. Hope you find a new job elsewhere that can be rewarding to you!
