Thread regarding Walgreens layoffs

Where do you commute from and how long does it take?

Where do you commute from and how long does it take?

Just trying to get idea of how many people are suffering from a bad commute.

Reply with information so we can make a case for shuttles, small offices etc.

The ELT does not give a damn about commutes. They want us to meet office attendance metrics at any cost.

@j7 I recently started a new position in the city after bearing the same commute. However, I tried to negotiate my in-office time to 2-3 days a week instead of 4, but it was denied. My team at Walgreens was amazing, but the commute was the ultimate dealbreaker. It honestly doesn’t seem like they plan to change their in-office day policy any time soon, so it wouldn’t hurt to at least look around.

I know some people who have 3 hour commute one way. I wonder what would their commute look like if there was a direct bus from Rosemont CTA station.

If there are enough people who want this then we can request Pace Bus to do that. They had a direct bus to Sears headquarter.

My commute is about an hour in the morning and closer to 90 minutes heading home if I leave after 4. It’s become really exhausting. I’m planning to spend this weekend updating my resume and starting the application process — honestly, I may consider putting in my notice even before I secure something else because the current situation isn’t sustainable for my mental health.

By the time I get home Monday through Thursday, cook, eat, clean up, and get ready for the next day, I’m left with maybe an hour or so to decompress before bed. That just doesn’t feel like enough personal time.

At the same time, it seems unlikely that anything will change internally — no additional office locations or adjustments to the in-office expectations. So realistically, if the current setup isn’t working, the only path forward may be to explore other opportunities.

Why does it matter? People travel distances all over the place for work. You guys are amazing that whine about anything. Enjoy your stay at Walgreens. You deserve each other.

My commute is 35 miles each way and almost my entire team is remote. I drive in 4 days a week for NOTHING!!!
They aren't going to do a damn thing to make life easier for any of us. PE companies only care about making money for themselves - employees are all expendible. GET OUT NOW!!!!

lol I’m sorry but what??? A case for shuttles and small offices? They’re closing district offices they aren’t going to open small offices so a few people don’t have to drive as far. That’s crazy
