Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

For Mike….

You asked what our obstacles are so here are a few that are slowing us down

  1. Jira - we spend more time trying to please the Jira g-ds than we do on development. It doesn’t work. Maybe it was good at JPMC, but not here.

  2. Fortify - nothing like remediating a bunch of false positives

  3. Language barriers - there are very few Americans on project calls. We can’t understand the Ind*ians and they don’t know our systems or products

These are just a few. Please feel free to chime in with more.

I spend more time on Jira calls and opening, closing, adding information on tasks than I do on my job. It is horrible. They even took away the ability to clone tasks to make it even worse. Next will be Jira tasks to go to the bathroom.

FIServ had over 30 versions of JIRA. The only one that works is the main one. Most instances have migrated over - if you’re still on an old instance then you’re in trouble

We spend more time on Jira and development. We had to assign 2 people just to become scrum masters and do Jira. Now we do their work too.

@j6 You don't get to CEO level by doing what people want you to.

The base Microsoft Surface laptops are barely sufficient for anything beyond solely sending emails. If I try to share my screen in a call when anyone is on video it crashes. I can’t even get on video with client calls because the programs clog up so much the audio starts cutting out. IT is beyond useless unless you just want to take a 30-60 break for the day while they make exactly zero improvements to your situation.

@j4 I agree. Its really noisy in the buildings. We need more sound proof stuff. We could always go back to 3 days in the office (or just 2). Its hard to concentrate on anything. i really dont know how people do it.

Jira su-ks, its made to make us work slower. Its ridiculous.
To much security and passwords. Cant we just have a better external firewall.
Language barriers. I understand them but to be honest. We had the talent here in the USA but they were all layed off and replaced. The CEOs of America are sick.

We need better laptops and more intuitive programs to work in. Jira and 360 are just there to make us feel defeated and those slow a-s laptops.

MIKE you listening? We all really like you and think of you as another Jeff Yabuki. (He is held at a great status with us) We just want to be efficient and treated as adults with respect.

How about the buildings themselves? Hardly a penny put in for upkeep except for orange paint. We need new chairs, bathroom renovations, and everyone should have higher cubes to drown out the noise from epilepsy talking on calls. It is very distracting when trying to code. Coral is falling apart. Come visit and see for yourself

How bout the network itself? Or client360 being terrible to use. Or how bout the over use of AI with no real strategy behind it and how none of our clients care to use it cuz it’s not intuitive and a bat fit for products that actually require use experience. To say nothing of all yhe red tape just to get a small fix deployed

Lot of managers make FTE log time (record time) for micromanagement purpose. NYC. The most painful part of it is that the tool is not used for planning properly with time ahead and estimate resources or capacity planning. Digital transformation needs to happen ASAP.

Jira is garbage in any company, especially when misused for project tracking and management. It is badly conceived, too complicated, and non-intuitive. No wonder people who were badly conceived themselves love it.
