Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Another Form of Quiet Layoffs

Cutting bonuses drastically by raising metrics incrementally every year, until they're just out of reach. Q1 2026 quarterly bonus dropped $1500 for me compared to other quarters and my performance increased this year. The base isn't the best, so you have to rely on bonuses to make up for it. All that makes people want to do it put in less effort, which I'll be doing.

How about not even coming close with keeping up with inflation.

@j4 "quartely bonus", not commission. Pretty much anything at the call centers for one.

@ey which roles pay quarterly commission besides retail storefront associates? Does the trading floor even have that? I have never heard of this..

@c8 this is on the retail side. The Fidelity storefronts you can walk into if they have a certain amount of money to invest. It’s “sales” in the sense of how many customers they got to move their money over. It’s not really a bonus in the way the rest of the firm sees it. It’s commission based essentially.

And those places you see on Boylston, bank branches. It's for wealth management, it’s 500k minimum for customers to participate. Used to be 250k. So those employees are compensated through commission based on pulling those clients in, retaining them etc. they aren’t trading or managing portfolios. Thats a whole other ball game and commissions you don’t even want to know….

OP uses the bonus term incorrectly unless I’m misunderstanding, 1 time a year in early December is the same in states.

@c8 depends on the role. Sales compensation is different than IT for example

My manager cut my bonus because they didn’t like me. They literally said that they would have given less, but they had to justify why the bonus was so low at that point and she didn’t have a reason.
