Thread regarding IBM layoffs

IBM is Already Doing 'Voluntary' Layoffs This Year in Europe ('Buyouts' Ahead of Mass Layoffs)

There's now evidence that IBM does the "buyout" spiel to shake the tree and see what fruit falls. Later the chipping of the branches will commence.

@10x
when i joined IBM in 2006 it was still or again, as you wish, top tech company. Ask the management what they did since as no one really takes IBM seriously anymore. Only much better PR (lies) is why the stock is up. Without long term, rooted, mainframe business, IBM is already out of business. Even though IBM pioneered in many new technologies, the management is the one who's responsible that IBM never become the leader in the new arenas. IBM is cooked, same as their results from JK, Arvind. Empty calories as Ginny would say :), have been let go in 2024.

@13v Da---t, you're not getting the right upskilling badges for moving into the executive ranks to become a Band 7.

How difficult is that for you to understand ?

Do you have a thick skull ?

Why must you make fun of peoples appearances? And why the hate for me with learning more skills and getting badges? We need to sharpen our skills and learn as much as we can if we want to be competitive. I know I will be a band 7 soon

@13p so sad, dehumanizing remarks now ? but they are facts, not fiction...and have you made your appointment with Robbie the Hood yet ? If you are in F&O, are you working for Krabanaugh or the Joanne the blubber Walrus ?

So sad to read that you not working hard enough for those Think 40+ special skills badges. If you are on the road to becoming an executive, you must develop your "special skills".

Why must you use dehumanizing remarks about Arvind, Rob and other executives?

@13c Oh yes they (layoffs) are dehumanizing - particularly in the US and in Europe. Who are you kidding ? Is training your replacement from India to take your job over in a month (once you have received your layoff notice from your US or Europe manager) a fun thing ? Is getting the pathetic 1 month severance from IBM after the layoff notice something to be happy about ? Is the TOTAL failure of the IBM HR Department under the witch Nickel And Dime to provide proper information on getting information on your medical needs, retirement package, letters of reference anything but unsatisfactory ? IBM treats US IBM and Europe employees like worn out and cast off shoes after use.

You are one corrupt and insensitive IBM HR mother trucker like your idol, the corrupt Alvind and his Pipmunk executives. See Robbie The Hood for a more personalized and specialized di-k su-king training to earn more special Think40 badges for your LinkedIn profile. You are on your way to become yet another useless and worthless Indian executive. Lord knows we have more than enough of your type running around everywhere doing nothing but spouting a lot of hot air. As they say, talk is cheap. and this is not about hate, vitriol or other garbage you are good at spouting off the charts.

Layoffs while unfortunate are not dehumanizing. Management makes these tough decisions and it weighs on them heavily. Do you really think Arvind and Jim K wake up every day hoping to make cuts? They work hard to ensure IBM is positioned to be competitive.

@zb you'll get the RA for not su-king enough executive di-ks. You must do at least 10 every day to keep up with the workload. And no whining, if you are winning while you work.

Does that answer your question ?

Post ID: @zh+1kqay796d

@Zb. You can be RA’ed at the drop of a hat. All that has to happen is technology changes and IBM decides to buy that technology vs developing it themselves (wrong place wrong time), IBM decides your area of expertise has become a commodity (intel pc’s and later on servers), someone in the world will do your job for 1/2 your salary (most of the admin jobs in NA and Europe), IBM decides to sell off your division because it’s become non-strategic (GTS, and Watson Health), you get several promotions and become too expensive (experienced legacy employees in NA and Northern Europe), your chain of command finds an AI program to replace you (most of the middleware SW offerings from IBM), etc etc etc. All of the above have reduced Northen Europe and NA headcount by 2/3rds over the last 10 years and I don’t see that slowing down. IBM will eat you up, and sp-t you out when you become a cost and march forward without ever looking back. ITs the nature of corporate life, and no amount of badges will save you from that. My advise to you is find a “niche” that IBM can’t live without and can’t buy, and then become its in house expert. That will deliver you more job security than 10,000 hours of think 40 education or badges. I wish you good luck with your career with IBM

@qb Well good for you. Most 23 year olds haven't even declared their gender and here you are professing your desire to be an executive. You do realize the most likely scenario is that you'll be RAed before you make Band 8. Right? But if (when) you're laid off, you can always come back here and join our little circlej--kOf course, if you actually become an exec, you'll continue to be at the center of it.

@te I think you are sadly mistaken because there is something inherently wrong with you and your psyche; you should get yourself checked out by Robbie the Hood ASAP.

Attempts at dark humor on these pages are translated by you to say they are about hate and vitriol. Nothing could be further from the truth. The truth shall set you fee, but Ex lax does a better job (always !). So take a chill pill and some Ex Lax before visiting Robbie the Hood.

@qb don't forget to buy a few of the fake IIT M.Sc and PhD certificates that you can find at any street vendor outside the IBM office in Bengaluru and put them on the walls in your cubicle or office. Your Indian managers will be rightly impressed with your skills and aptitude just like they are impressed with the IBM janitor who claims to have trained as a space astronaut (and has the certificates on his cubicle wall to prove it) but he can't even ride a bike, let alone fix one.

But, is he best friends with Robbie the Hood ? Absolutely !

This IBM Company only makes decisions to keep its head above the water.
There are no long-term investments (aside maybe Quantum), Ginny sold the company out, 40+ billion of it. Execs always take the easy way, can't fix anything. That tells you everything you need to know.

@dv I can do ShitInf if IBM wants, because I'm a human machine. I used to make my own sh-t until one day my boss said to me, "3D8613, you make good sh-t. We're short staffed; make more." And I said, "Sure thing boss." Then I thought: this is like when I was a kid, when my friends and I wanted to throw sh-t at someone's house but didn't have access to any dog sh-t. So I made artificial sh-t using flour, water, and cocoa powder. No could tell it from jack. I also realized then that some day I'd be some type of engineer. Who'd have guessed that by way of acquisition, I'd find myself here in the shithole of the beast. The big problem now is that I'm too good at making sh-t. I worry about being promoted, and I have nightmares about someday becoming CEO.
