Most of you work from home. How much protected PTO for "emergencies" could you possibly need?

I’m WFH. I’m on the phones all day. So I’m a grunt. Have never had to use protected PTO. But a few people I do know are out sick right now. Whatever this cr-p is that’s going around is putting people down and out.

This is a wfh company.

Who calls in sick when nobody knows how much work is going on in your house.

This only impacts the grunt on the the phone all day workers

SMH. If they are not screwing over the onshore employees in some way then this isn't Allstate. I bet the Allstate India folks have some fine PTOP benefits.

You’re right. Someone did post about it and everyone scoffed at it. Shame on us!

Allstate forced this on each state's employees but some state's labor laws said "not so fast!" and protected their employees. Shame on Ohio and others allowing Allstate to make it easier to release employees without severance by giving them less protection for life's unexpected happenings in which PTOP would be needed.

Anything for these cretins to get out of paying severance.

Gotta love it that the PTOP change was posted for Claims back in mid October on Allconnect with the PTO bid info, but the rest of the company finds out about it the day it goes into effect. Not sure who the bad guy is, HR for not saying anything or leadership for claiming to be oblivious. Remember this topic was posted a few weeks ago and people piled on the poster saying they were wrong.

You tried to dispute a point by making the exact point that you were contesting.

So 31 states have attendance issues, and get 16 hours and the six states that get 80 hours are perfect?

It sounds like a way to eliminate employees with poor attendance issues versus eventually paying them a severance when laid off.

@isj You are incorrect. Allstate lowered the protected time to 16 hours overall on their end. However the states that protect their citizens against such ridiculous process changes and make sure companies like Allstate can't sc--w their employees over are the state governments forcing Allstate to keep the protected PTO at 60-80 hours for their citizens of their states.

Haven't heard anything about this but reach out to your local government. These are the id--ts who made this stuff up, not allstate.
