Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Retired !

After thirty-five years in corporate America, I decided to take early retirement. Not because I cannot do the job but because I can’t put up with the psychopaths that have ascended to senior leadership roles. During my tenure, I worked for seven different companies , in various sectors. Reflecting back on my career, I can honestly state that the Allstate IT is the most toxic environment that I have ever worked in. Thirteen years of an Indian caste like system that stifles all innovation. Continuous fu-kups with no reprocess ions! TG, what a crock of sh-t! Why doesn’t the Board audit that very expensive initiative? TG will sink Allstate! Is there even a business case that shows lower combined ratios? Hint- when and how will all legacy application costs(95+% of total) be eliminated, so that TG can -theoretically - be a success? There is zero business and financial acumen in IT leadership. This ship is sinking, or best case scenario drawing down on reserves very quickly. State regulators will take notice in 3, 2, 1… I dare anyone in IT or finance to refute my argument.

@inf+1qn75Yew “Tail” ? Yes I’m sure all the “tail” is interested in a retired corporate IT worker that, based on this post, is likely 55-60+ years old and almost certainly has a spouse and grown children. Let me guess, the waitress at Sizzler is really into you too….

Sorry you couldn’t hack it running with the BIG DOGS, enjoy your 4pm prime rib dinner special at the local Sizzler and mowing your lawn 3 times a week. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have work to do, gramps

I enjoy working for Allstate. I think Tom Wilson is great. I’m honored to work here. The benefits are wonderful.

Congratulations, I took early retirement a few years ago. This management team wouldn't know a good idea if it bit them in the a*s. Nepotism, yes men and women! Everyone looking over their shoulder a toxic work environment. Good for you, you're a survivor!

"Thirteen years of an Indian caste like system that stifles all innovation."

Bingo. And with changes in IT and other management, plus the hiring/layoff practices in place, the same caste system is coming soon to a business unit near you.

Hired some really talented, innovative people but Allstate 'leaders' want neither talent nor innovation. They want 'yes' people who will do what they're told by when they're told. In a technology world where markets change quickly, Suren and his toadies are taking Allstate back to the industrial revolution.

And they'll get to the end of another year wondering why their command and control brilliance didn't work-AGAIN- and then punish the control portion of the equation for their own mismanagement.

Good for you. When I retire I would not spew silly stuff. I'll be too busy looking ahead to cocktails and chasing tail while I still can. Enjoy...let go of what you left and get some tail!
