Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Motivational fuel.

There are tons of angry, worried, resentful posts out there. People concerned about being let go before, during or after Christmas. People angry with the way the layoffs are unfolding. Other’s upset as to the reasons “why we are at this juncture”. All I can say is use it.

Use it as motivational fuel to make your life better. As many others have alluded to, and I tend to agree, let it motivate you to learn a new skill or sharpen your existing skills. Wait, be patient, as the job market gets better, and it will, move on to another company.

If we have a soft landing, then in 2024 there will be a market bull run causing company stocks to sky rocket, which encourages growth which feeds into companies hiring.

If we have a hard landing then we end up into a recession that lasts about 6 months, then there will be a bull run as in the soft landing.

Either way, be patient, sharpen your skills and get your resume ready and move on when the time is right. Citi offers no benefits that other companies do not. Do not think that Citi is the only place you can ever work at.

Post ID: @1tyh+1q7NsbM0 Wow, Cit HR. Your ignorance is unparalleled. Look at how many Downvotes and people disagree with you. LOL! It's painful to be reminded of Citi's minor ERROR when TEN Citi Geniuses reviewed, checked and gave the Green Light for the Wire Transfer FORM BEFORE US$900 Million Free Money was mistakenly wired out to Revlon's creditors in August 2020 which caused Citi to be hit with even more Consent Orders, MRIAs and MRAs from the Government and Bank Regulators. Citi is the Laughing Stock of Wall Street Joke "bank" according to the Equity Research Analysts.
But, No. Citi does NOT have Dvmb B0zos including the "Human" Resources Dept. "working" for it, and Citi is not the "bank" with imposter syndrome because All of the Real Bankers and Employees work at JPMC, BofA, Goldman, Morgan Stanley and Barclays. Enjoy bankruptcy. Citi HR personnel will soon be begging its G0ds JPMC, Goldman etc. it idolizes and admires for Jobs.

@ihl+1q7NsbM0 Reminds me of the crackheads that call the day labor company wanting to know if someone has “found them a job yet”. lol

@ihl+1q7NsbM0 Wow, your ignorance is unparalleled. You do realize no one in HR is trying to find a job for YOU? They are trying to fill a position for their employer. Agency recruiters are not trying to find a job for YOU either. They are trying to fill a job for their client. Your admitted view underscores your narcissistic view of the world. Literally NO ONE is trying to do ANYTHING for you, nor should they by your statements. If you believe that they are looking for a job for YOU, then you are easily manipulated and have a low IQ.

You sound like a nightmare of a candidate and are probably one of the people who applies to 80 jobs. You get rejected because your skills are not valuable, nor relevant to the posting, and the number of jobs you apply to show you have no genuine interest in any opportunity. No matter where you go, it will always be someone else’s fault of your plot in life. The common denominator is YOU. Take a look in the mirror…..that’s who is holding you back.

As I’ve read:

“20 years from now the only people who will remember that you worked late will be your children.”

Seriously man, LinkedIn job search engine freaking rocks. Such filters as “work from home” and salary amount. I think I’ll post this again via main discussion post.

Post ID: @icc+1q7NsbM0 Very true and incisive comments. And you have the "Human" Resources gatekeepers who regularly illogically reject or do Not even consider resumes that match the job descriptions. Behind every resume is a Human Being with bills, families to feed and expenses. We're Not Numbers or drones. And then HR wonders why they're NOT like, admired or respected by the general masses and public. The "Human" Resources "job" and function including that of Headhunting/Job Agencies is an easy, subjective, BullSh!t and sinecure job replete with politics and fiefdoms. NO One attends 4 years of college with the goal of finding jobs for other people. Most people who end up "working" in HR could NOT get real jobs.

So true and accurate. And the Employees who can fix, save and help Citi are ones who will be the first ones to Quit.

Op what you’re experiencing It’s called grief. There are 5 stages the last of which is acceptance. Most of you are in denial or anger. Do yourselves a favor and skip past the first four stages.

I predict that due to the Forced Ratings Curve (about 65% of all Employees) to Downgrade exemplary and hard-working 1 and 2 Employees TO 3-Valued Contributor, there will be a Mass Exodus voluntary Quitting of Employees starting February 2024 and throughout 2024. Of course, the Employees who will be the first to voluntarily Quit Citi are the ones with brains, and in-demand skills and knowledge. It's Citi's loss and continued Brain Drain since Fall2022 further exacerbating Citi's D3ath Spiral into bankruptcy or at least as a shadow doppelganger "bank" of what it once was just like Wells Fargo and HSBC. I will be in that Group in the Mass Exodus. There's NO future in Citi. It's on its way to bankruptcy or getting merged into JPMC, Wells, BofA or Goldman possibly by the end of 2024 if not within 3 to 5 years. Citi does NOT offer or have meaningful Salary increases or Bonuses, There are NO Promotions and more than 65% of Employees who actually deserve 1 and 2 Ratings which is equal to Higher Bonuses, Salaries and Promotions are getting Downgraded TO 3-Valued Contributor. As other posters have explained, Citi's benefits (medical, retirement plans, dental, etc.) SVCK compared to BofA, JPMC, etc.. So Why Stay???!!! Citi is a Destitute, NOT Profitable, Dysfunctional SH!TH0LE !!! There is NO reason whatsoever to remain at Citi.

Losing one’s job is a terrible experience for many. A few may be lucky to land a position right away, for others it can take months of endless search and disappointments, the mental stress is enormous.

Seeing your savings getting depleted, your payments falling behind and not finding a logical reason why companies won’t even consider you for a position is truly terrifying.

I can totally understand why we see tons of angry, worried, resentful posts out there.

All major US/UK companies offer similar benefits. Not sure why people working in Citi think that Citi is head and shoulders above the rest. Not true - maybe it used to be 20y ago, not anymore. Banking/finance gradually su-ked more and more in the past 15y+ - there are so many other industries that offer similar benefits.
