Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

Quarterly TH - Dead Gal Walking

Gail's leadership isn't working. They can only layoff so much to support earnings. And the market has spoken. Perhaps it's time for the board to act and start laying off at the top.

@1yvb+1v2hyfYi, I agree 100%! This is the only company in my 20+ years of experience where I could not look up to a leader and learn something and be amazed. So many senior leaders at this company lack even basic communication skills and interpersonal skills. If they would apply for a job, they will not get similar titles at another place (unless it is equally bad or worse to ELV).

i’ve been with this company long enough and have yet to meet a true leader. Sure there are plenty of clowns with fancy titles, but not a single leader that can be trusted to stand up for their employees.

Look at what CEO of CVS did... It is high time Gail steps down!

Medicaid and Medicare have been struggling for years at elevance. They’ve rolled through 4-5 Medicare presidents the last 5 years. They’ve shuffled new people in to lead Medicaid. The one constant? Felicia Norwood. Somehow, despite these business units failing that she is in charge of, she has remained. This is why I have no faith in the company. Gail has surrounded herself with failures and instead of holding them accountable, she fires the ppl beneath them

Housekeeping note-

If you name non-named officers of the company... the ones whose income isn't reported on our earnings, they will remove your post.

Meaning, do not directly name MM aka Gucci Luci or KW aka Ivory Tower Ted, or your post can be removed. Gail, Blair, Mark etc can be named.

I have no respect for the fools that run this company. I have respect for the small business person that builds and grows a business.

That Gucci belt looks like a holdover from the 1970's when Mr. F. Hyman came out and created this brand. He is the founder of Gucci.

You ought to look up what some of the executives in the head shed make per year. It should be criminal. Gail makes like 21-24 Mil a year depending on the year you choose. Pete makes 6-7 Mil, Blair makes 8 Mil, Mark makes12 Mil. No wonder we’re short on revenue. We spend money paying our executives and probably 50 VPs like we’re drunken sailors. None of them produce that much return on the dollar.

My favourite part of the TH was when talent answered something with a sculpture that looks like a D on his shelf. Felt appropriate for the meeting though so good call guy. Way to know your environment. Maybe it's Gucci!

We have the most tone deaf leadership corporate America has ever created. We absolutely must hire and/or train the actual humanity out of people.
Maybe that's what we're so terrible at improving it. Our leaders aren't people anymore.
To the HR and Culture trolls, tell the leaders to pretend like they identify with associates and members better. Send them to humanity camp or whatever.

She turns 65 next year and the end of 2024 will mark 7 years, so I would not be surprised if her retirement is announced at the end of the year, at the end of a quarter next year latest. Look up her offer letter, it's public. There's language about what appears to be retirement after age 65 -- the only question I have is does that mean she can't retire before then, or has to that year.

If we did not make our numbers due to an executive not properly planning for Medicaid redeterminations, and we will make up this shortfall in future Medicaid rate increases, then (1) the issue is not that we have too much cost that we need to cut using AI. If leadership had planned accordingly, we would have made our numbers. And (2) was the executive who did not plan properly rif'd?

Gail's note just popped in our inboxes-

"Each of us is accountable for understanding, contributing to, and being actively engaged in delivering on our commitments and business results"

Does that include the c-suite employees?

There is no top down approach at this organization in any way or form including security. Majority of the senior leadership such as Gail, David Wilcox, and etc. needs to be retired or better yet fired from this company. These are people
Who should be riffed first instead rightnow they planning to take a big fat bonus for march.

They should follow top down approach. I am pretty sure board is invovled and mixed so nothing will happen

I am SO OVER these endless townhalls. I swear there is a TH every other week, and they ALL repeat the same speil.
Leverage change, AI, enrollment loss-- over and over. Aka RIFs. What an absolute waste of time, especially for associates who bust their a$$ because they actually care about helping members.

Mr. D33Z When has a RIF or return to office ever been discussed during a TH? Common sense ain’t so common.

This bs is getting beyond ridiculous. The Q&As don’t even sound like anything those of us doing the work for this cr-p company. It’s pre written executive doublespeak that dances around addressing the real concerns and issues.

Omg thoughts and prayers?!?! Really b****?! How about you donate some of your money from selling all your stocks >:-(
