Metlife - medical accommodation review

Does anyone have experience with dealing with MetLife for renewal of medical remore accommodations? It's interesting WF switched to MetLife and wonder if it is due to large payouts awarded to those who sued for being denied.

@hr I am in the process of my MetLife submission for an accommodation due to disability - and that disability is listed on WF accommodation disability list. Any suggestions to help to get the accommodation approved would be greatly appreciated!

Companies finally realized their employees will lie about literally anything they can think of to avoid coming to work, up to and including pretending to be disabled, so this is the new reality. Good luck with those BS claims about ambient noise, bright lights or whatever other nonsense every l-wlife in the company would immediately copy if word got out they succeeded in getting approved. Its unfortunate for the ones with legit issues but you can thank your sc-mbag coworkers for making your life miserable.

MetLife=short term disability and accommodations
LFG=long term disability

Both su-k. I’m suing one and waiting to see if I need to sue another.

@dv FFS? Here's a hint, do a Google search on the topic...let's see... a WF Director was awarded $22 million in 2024. Let me know if you need step by step instructions on how to use Google, Einstein.

@OP My WFH accommodation was approved about a month ago and the whole process was extremely slow, about 2 months. My Dr knew the routine since I’ve been on this accommodation for years so the forms were completed using the same info. MetLife called me with office accommodation suggestions that made no sense and didn’t match my medical need at all. It was as if they didn’t even read what my issues were and just had a list of blanket suggestions for each medical issue.

there's only one reason the accommodation process was switched to ML - it's cheaper for the company to outsource it.

The criteria are set by the company - ML isn't stricter or looser... they just execute against that.

Yeah their website, phone bank, and processing are all super disorganized. They'd send me random letters in the mail confirming dates that I had requested for Leave, even though I asked them to stop. The actual process of getting approved took some time but it all worked out. Honestly there were more horror stories with Lincoln Financial.

Not MetLife. Pretty sure your leadership is the approving party but they can hide behind MetLife. MetLife has parameters and direction. They remain in the legal guidelines. I doubt they are concerned about lawsuits because they want people that get paid to show up

@c6 Certainly hope your “attorney” is your spouse because this is ridiculous. No one asked you for an attorney letter. If you have a bonafide need it will be addressed. Anything other than WFH will be auto approved with a note. You want WFH you will get approved once short term with a review likely.

they are incentivized to drag out the process, deny, and then play games. all the while the company is finding a pretext to get you gone. they hate medical issues. they want you to die.

I had an attorney write my letter and then my doctor signed it for a short term accommodation. If you’re looking for long-term, it could be a challenge. And MetLife seemed pretty disorganized, which didn’t help.

Metlife process was way better than ER who had a "project" to force people to RTO in last two years.
