Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Whitacre Tower is Our Pride

Whitacre Tower isn’t just where we work — it’s where our future is being built. Every day inside these walls, we’re driving innovation, reimagining how people connect, and setting bold goals for what comes next. It’s where new ideas are tested, challenges are met with creativity, and collaboration turns ambition into action.

As we look ahead, Whitacre Tower stands as a reminder of what we’ve accomplished — and what we’re still striving for. Our mission is to lead with purpose, invest in technology that empowers communities, and create experiences that move the world forward. The future of our company starts here, in the heart of Dallas, where progress never stops. Whitacre Tower is more than our home — it’s our foundation for what’s next as we strive to be the leader in convergence.

@dy Are you seriously comparing paid relocation to the illegal and discriminatory constructive dismissal actions the company is currently performing?

Wishing a dog's po-p is a diamond is unrealistic. Same with the new and improved T.

@hr you have a problem reading? The company has gone to sh-t since the company left the northeast. You know, the elite region of the USA and the entire world.

"that’s right northeast is ELITE. The world capitol. Ever since this company left the northeast it’s gone to sh!t."

You just proved my point. AT&T was saved from Bankruptcy while being run into the ground by the Elitist in the NE . . . hardley an elitist action.

The NE thinks more of itself than the rest of the world. The NE is declining in population of non-immigrants. The people that have been up there a little while know they need to leave.

Why would I use ATT internet if I can Spectrum? It's cheaper, the app is better, and their mobile unlimited lines are $30 flat, taxes included.

"You either decided to go or you found another position.
It's that simple now."

From what I recall, AT&T was offering relocation packages for those that chose to move from Austin to Dallas. That is not happening now except on a very limited basis. Not so simple anymore because of interest rates, et al!

Many, maybe most, don't recall when ATT moved headquarters from San Antonio to Dallas. Almost 1,000 people moved. This was probably in 2008.
Don't remember people losing their tempers about being asked to relocate then. You either decided to go or you found another position.
It's that simple now.
BTW, San Antonio and Austin are beautiful Texas cities!

@cp New Jersey labs hasn’t done anything big in a decade or more. They are still coasting from work done in the 90s and early 2000s.

"You know, in the northeast where all the Ivy League schools are…"

Typical NE elitist . . . of course there are no top tier schools in other parts of the country.

The only place that has any hint of innovation is Middletown NJ. You know, in the northeast where all the Ivy League schools are…

Big Ed's strong suit was bribing politicians to let mergers go through. Something he neglected to teach to sonny-in-law. The wrong RBOC won the telecom consolidation wars.

Meanwhile TMob and VZ has a stock price more than double T’s. Ultimately, that’s the true measure of what’s going on. Btw, let’s innovate our way down about 4billion shares of T stock.
Telecom is now a commodity. No carrier is doing anything that different than any other. Although I did see today Spectrum is now giving home fiber away for free- now that’s innovating, reimagining how to connect consumers and being bold.
I do agree that Whitacre tower means so much. But that’s because Ed understood how to run the company. But that’s probably because he started at the bottom and worked his way up. He was a customer first leader and he lived it. So many great stories about Ed W. and how he treated customers. He led the team in the way he expected everyone to treat customers.
