A US employee wide vaccine mandate was announced today. Final deadline is early december. No testing alternative and it applies to remote workers as well as those onsite. No jab no job. FYI to anyone who cares, either side. Specific company info is hard to find so this seems like a good venue for updates.

Interviewing and have encountered the same regarding the Gov contract mandate. My main interview question has been explaining why leaving after 20 years. I told one company, “loyalty”. Went from essential to jab or job in 24 months. Still looking and interviewing. My body my choice. Anyone else looking, good luck in your search.
I am interviewing and finding that there are companies who are not requiring the shot. A couple of corporations told me they’re waiting on a law to be put in place, another told me that only their business unit that deals with federal accounts would be required to abide by the mandate and one other company offers a testing option if on-site. So as an engineer who has been primarily remote over the last 2 years, I will be departing to a 20+% raise and not be subjected to this nonsense.
To avoid misunderstandings: I think immunizations are great. I take them but have difficulty to explain why people don't. Could this be the reason? I am trying to help my daughter her home-work. Your reposne will help

This may set playground for confirmation bias. We may putting so much weight to the stories we hear about the minor side affect of the immunization. Can we trust the medical provider who charges so much for the medical visit at least in the US?
Smart to get an exemption even if vaxxed. You can now avoid all the mandatory boosters where the company will threaten to fire everyone on an annual basis. I used to think how 1942 Germany could happen but based on the number of people wishing death on people and their families here it’s no longer a mystery. Should we assume Dec 8 is the last date of employment for those refusing to comply with the mandate or will they extend past that date? A previous poster mentioned “leave of absence.” The wording seems somewhat vague about what will happen. My first assumption was termination on the 8th.

If after final review and verification that an employee is not in compliance with the vaccination requirement, managers will be notified and the employee will receive written confirmation of the date of their separation of employment from Seagate.”
Follow-up to my last post. The job market is on fire. The response to my resume has been insane. Companies are looking to hire. Not all are like Seagate with their all or nothing approach. Good luck in your search.
I am one of those impacted. It's my body my choice. My decision is to accept the termination, leave of absence, or whatever the action is on Dec 8. I am also looking for another job. Read all of the comments. There are some hard core vaxxers on the thread. I am wondering if those are the same individuals who go to happy hour, crowded restaurants, have recently used air travel, etc. You are preaching follow the science but not practicing what you preach. This is considerable over reach. Where does it stop.
Someone asked about exemptions. You will get a very legally crafted response and sent to a form to submit your documentation before a deadline. Medical is almost impossible. Religious (speaking from the Christian perspective) is a legal mine field of have you used these products or taken these vaxes in the past.

Those who are vaccinated can be infected and spread the virus so if there is any liability it didn't go away with the vaccine. I also don't remember being asked for vaccination status when I got a job at Seagate. Did I miss something? Are we now going to be required to get the flu vaccine every year in order to keep our job? This isn't business as normal.
I have followed this very very closely. I have read countless studies and listened to both sides of every "discovery". Over 45 million Americans tested positive for covid. Fauci said about 40-45% were likely asymptomatic so we are looking at about 75 million Americans have already had covid or 22% of the population, likely more. These people all have natural immunity. A study was done that showed natural immunity was 27 times better than the vaccine. Another study showed there was no greater immunity if those with natural immunity took the vaccine and in that same study ZERO of those who had natural immunity got re-infected. Are there risks associated with the vaccine? Absolutely. Why are 22% of Americans who have natural immunity being forced to take the additional risk? Feel free to look up any of my statements.
Also, to save you some time there was another study that has been used to discount the efficacy of natural immunity. They claim the reinfection rate is higher among unvaccinated but they used a different method to show reinfection. They used a combination of a positive covid test AND an antigen test without distinguishing the total. Adding the antigen test is dubious because antigens show up when the body responds to covid whether you have the vaccine or have natural immunity. It only proves the unvaccinated group came in contact with the virus more which means nothing.
You can continue to sit in your echo chamber or you can do some actual research and find there is a lot more than you are being told. I am not the one sucking on a te-t that doesn't have my best interests.
Seagate is deciding to not have the liability of unvaccinated workers risking rest of the staff to infection from this pandemic. If you were actually following studies you'd know that makes sense. And that natural immunity is less effective than vaccination. Both fade in time - this isn't the chicken pox.
Vaccines have already been mandated for decades for kids going to public schools and again when going to college. Where have you been? Are you going to tell me seatbelts cost more lives than they save next? Try and sell me essential oils?
