So I was thinking of applying as a claim adjuster and see Allstate's starting salary is $38,800! Progressive starts at $47,000. Does anyone know what other insurance companies start as? Allstates starting salary seems low

Costco s—s....pure and simple
@jtp+1a0CLarm not sure who you are talking to but we had a bunch of claims employees I know go to Geico as they had a hiring push, they had heard it would be better and pay was better, well "better" is not really "better" most have said the managers were just as bad and workload was as equally bad, most have already left Geico and are out of insurance industry completely, the couple that are left are stuck for now but wanting to get out.
The workload is so big you can’t do this job in 40 hours, so after all the weekends and evening hours you’re going to have to put in to stay afloat - you’re making the same $/hr you’d make at Walmart. But the difference is, Walmart would send you home after 40hrs or have to pay you overtime!
This company abuses its exempt employees.
No end of the year bonuses like USAA and Progressive. The starting pay s—s , especially now that the performance goals are even now harder to achieve starting this year and we’ve been told not to expect raises next year due to the new Bands. We typically work over 50 hours a week now that half the adjusters were laid off over the last two years. Be prepared to work weekends workout pay too. Mandatory Saturday rotations now . Customer service is no more after the transformative growth changes resulted in more work abd less adjusters to do it .
I know many people that work at Costco and they are very happy and making over $20/hr. Costco treats their employees well and with respect.
Allstate will pay you less to treat you like yesterday’s trash.
Hey, I work at Allstate and I make it a point to treat each and every customer like total c-ap. It comes from Allstate treating me like c-ap I guess. 🙃
Post ID: @hnv+1a0CLarm yeah sure... Costco is less stress because they treat customers like c-ap
I suppose it depends on the kind of adjuster, but even so. That seems exceptionally low, and works out to around $18/$19 hr. Lower in actuality, as you'll be working 60 - 70 hours a week with no "OT".
What type of adjuster position are you applying for? That will make a difference. However, I don’t care where you live. $38k is a shameful starting salary for an adjuster at a major corporation such as Allstate. For anyone, actually. It’s not enough to live a comfortable lifestyle unless you have a roommate or a spouse with a second income. Not to mention the workload here is enough to k–l you. Expect to work after hours and weekends and kiss your relationship with friends, family, and even yourself goodbye. You will probably cry a lot. You’re better off going to Progressive or avoiding insurance altogether if you have a shred of integrity. The good ol’ days are long gone
@off+1a0CLarm the layoffs were happening regardless... i think it was a gamble that the previous admin wouldn't get reelected, and it worked out. the previous admin's America First initiatives would have made it difficult to just shift jobs overseas. But at least the new admin tweets nicer...
The last round of layoffs occurred under the “previous administration” genius...
Salaries here are shameful for the amount of work. Other carriers usaa, progressive, geic, etc. have same or better benefits, more manageable workload and higher pay.
Not sure where you live in the country but where I live (west coast) an adjuster position starts at 48k and that's considered below the poverty line. Every other carrier pays more than Allstate. May have less pto days but id rather have more money than pto. Maybe in your area 38k is livable? But guarantee you will make more at another carrier.
When India will work for peanuts and the government doesn't have ways to restrict shipping jobs overseas like the previous administration, it's amazing they pay more than minimum wage.
Allstate is by FAR the lowest in the industry!
Honestly you will make more working at Costco with better benefits and much less stress in your life.
I started at about that amount when hired in 1996
Allstate’s salary’s are very low compared to the industry average.
